Yeah they were not the players named in regards to the payments mate.
They actually started the charity, that is why they were named.
Was actually quite well publicised back in the day.
The club was actually quite liberal with boosting the image of the foundation.
Several articles about it on the website and when they did saintsTV...
lol saintscared....remember that

Funnily enough, yes I did last night. I've been enjoying hearing the footy public whine so much about how ugly we are, that I made a point of watching a few footy shows this week.SainterK wrote:Hang on a minute, you mean, you watch TFS?rodgerfox wrote:Isn't the issue that they are investigating whether the clubs paid money to this charity, then the charity cleans it and pays money to the players?
Hence players getting money from the club, without it being under the salary cap?
Bizarre story on the Footy Show really. It almost came across as 'Hey, there's nothing in this story but it almost could have been and it's a hot topic so I'm going to make a big deal about it but not too big because there's nothing in it but it'll fill some time on this segment and I can pretend to act all serious like a real journo for 10 minutes.'

My info is that the Saints player was TS.
Can't see the need at the time for his salary to be boosted..... delisted the following year.
There is smoke coming from the debris of the Unity Foundation, but has nothing to do with player payments.
A non-footballer was holding the matches.

Considering they are are the top of the proverbial tree in their chosen profession that does not make them hacks. If they were hacks they would not be in employed under any media format.joffaboy wrote:Just another attempt by Channel 9 to justify trying to make hacks like Hutchinson and Barrett celebrities.
It is tried and hackneyed. Storys aren't "broken" on TFS anymore.
The incessant crap about the foundation being investigated "before the NRl handed down the penalties"made me laugh. The inference was really poorly done, but typically of the News Copr haxck that Barratt is.
Are you at the top of your tree in your chosen profession? If not you must be a hack and a cyber-bully.
They want threads like this as people are watching and tuning into their show whether the story has legs or otherwise.

Smells like a media beat-up just because there was a link to Storm Players.
AFL players earn all sorts of money from all sorts od sources.
Unless the payments were over the top and can be linked to the Football Club there is absolutely nothing in it.
You can hire players to plug your company, to sing happy birthday to you ata party etc etc etc.. All are legal...as long as they are earnt.
And even if they are not earnt....if it cannot be linked to St Kilda FC in some way, then it has nothing to to with Salary Cap Rorting.
I mean you would need something like Club dnating massive amount of cash to charity with said cash then going to the players.
A $150 apperance fee here or there is not going to bea problem if that is all it was.

Whether or not the money being paid to the players by the charity was coming from the clubs.
Here's a thought. If all those hacks on TFS pulled there fingers out for a moment and actually did some real investigating, then they might just see what the Unity Foundation is doing for the kids. Could it be that Damian whats-his-face is trying to deflect some of the bad publicity that is beginning to harm News Ltd?

Interesting that you report me to the mods, why? I tend to disagree with most things you post. You are an internet bully.
Funny how your abusive tones have ceased ever since your buddies are no longer mods.
This is no flame wars. You are just a cyber-bully

Saintsfan is, in my estimation, a mid to late teens (maybe very early 20's) only child with strongs feelings of entitlement and an inflated opinion about the strength of his own feeeble intellect. Further to this, he demonstrates very poor conflict resolution skills and vasilates between overt macho aggression and confusion generated by non-acceptance.

Whether or not the money being paid to the players by the charity was coming from the clubs.
Just because someone quite properly investigates all possibilities does not entitle the media to go on a witch hunt throwing mud by implication in all directions.
Sorry if the distinction is too subtle for you.
