Unity foundation??
Wow
Just
Wow
Apparantly involved with the Melborne Storm behind the back payments.
We do know there were several Saints players involved with that foundation adn they may have even founded it.......... I also believe the players are no longer at the saints.

Interesting...not sure it will amount to much though. Was it just me or did The Footy Show do a poor job of explaining how it exactly worked in terms of back ended payments?
1 Saint, 4 Bombers and 3 Storm involved? Hmmm...

If the player concerned and the Saints don't have an at least passable explanation for the payments then I would be very, very surprised. They're not stupid, especially after the Melbourne Storm stuff they will want to have all bases covered. As that woman said, they're only looking for an explanation of why the payments were made.
Sincerely doubt anything will come of it.

Strange that this story ran on May 1 in The Age Newspaper and was then "broken" again by Damian Barrett tonight.
Not much in it from the look of it...

Not much in it I think.
But not the right kind of publicity given that with our on field success every man and his dog is looking to get us down, one way or another.
Don't think the footy show had much material, must be a slow news week to present that as a "breaking news" story.
Another poster is definately right about them doing an extreemly poor job of explaining the issue.
Blatant headline grab IMO.

Isn't the issue that they are investigating whether the clubs paid money to this charity, then the charity cleans it and pays money to the players?
Hence players getting money from the club, without it being under the salary cap?
Bizarre story on the Footy Show really. It almost came across as 'Hey, there's nothing in this story but it almost could have been and it's a hot topic so I'm going to make a big deal about it but not too big because there's nothing in it but it'll fill some time on this segment and I can pretend to act all serious like a real journo for 10 minutes.'

Mr Clarke, the charity's founder, said last night that when the Storm story broke he feared ''we may get pulled into it somehow''. He said he was ''never paid for being involved with Unity Foundation''. ''We were trying to help disadvantaged kids who needed a hand. But I can't speak for all the other players as I wasn't involved with all the accounts and doing the books.''Sainterman wrote:http://www.theage.com.au/rugby-league/l ... -tzeo.html

Just another attempt by Channel 9 to justify trying to make hacks like Hutchinson and Barrett celebrities.
It is tried and hackneyed. Storys aren't "broken" on TFS anymore.
The incessant crap about the foundation being investigated "before the NRl handed down the penalties"made me laugh. The inference was really poorly done, but typically of the News Copr haxck that Barratt is.

Lance or James??
There comes a point in every man's life when he has to say, "Enough is enough." For me, that time is now. I have been dealing with claims that I cheated and had an unfair advantage in <redacted>. Over the past three years, I have been subjected to a <redacted>investigation followed by <redacted> witch hunt. The toll this has taken on my family, and my work for <redacted>and on me leads me to where I am today – finished with this nonsense. (Oops just got a spontaneous errection <unredacted>)

I'm not accusing for one minute. Just conveying what was actually said on The Footy Show.saintbrat wrote:Only as being the founders of UnityMilan Faletic wrote:The players named were Allan Murray and Xavier Clarke.

There seems to be a lot of liquid infused posting going on tonight.
