on today's form tommy walsh would be closer to senior football than stanley, who had minimal impact. a handful of kicks, a mark, a soccered goal, a couple of runs and some tap outs in the ruck.
he spent some of the game forward and some in the ruck. he didn't present much and nor did his teammates seek him out. it was a bit of a scrappy game, though, and many of the forward entries were under pressure.
walsh looks a smart footballer. strong bodied, cool under pressure and has a certain presence about him. for a guy just learning the game his kicking seems very good. he even kicked a left footer. it's not as if he starred, but what he did seemed full of poise.
he played back today and will be a future chb or chf imo.
heyne and gaertner did a few nice things. peake had a bit of the ball. didn't see much of lynch.
mcevoy lifted in the ruck in the last quarter. archer, who is on our rookie list, could be a prospect.
that's about it really. i don't know enough of the sandringham players to be able to comment further.
hopefully bernard shakey or marto or zebraman will be able to give a better and more accurate run down.

As I dont see Sandy plway, can you tell me if you think any of the fowards are likely to get a run anytime soon.Spinner wrote:A few things.
Walsh can kick a footy. His skills are exceptional. Struggles reading the game though, especially in the air - which is expected. But he can KICK!
Stanley was quiet lik another poster stated - But gee can he run!
I love this club
I thought he was a left footer.bigcarl wrote:on today's form tommy walsh would be closer to senior football than stanley, who had minimal impact. a handful of kicks, a mark, a soccered goal, a couple of runs and some tap outs in the ruck.

Heyne did well.
Paterson played forward most of the game - But I can see him getting a game.

From what I saw Lynch is a long way off. I realise he's coming back from injury.Spinner wrote:Stillwaiting wrote:As I dont see Sandy plway, can you tell me if you think any of the fowards are likely to get a run anytime soon.Spinner wrote:A few things.

Heyne looks promising.
Surely you mean you can't see Pattison getting a game?
Old enough to repaint, but young enough to sell
quick rundown (will come back and post more) as I have the lamb on the BBQ as we speak
Stanley is a better ruck then macca, uses his body very well and plays like ryder when the ball hits he ground. Needs to play the quarters out and doesn't lead as well to space as he could but was impressive. He does things that break up the play.
Macca will be back next week, worked hard both ways, great around the ground and was the pick of the rucks.
heyne had a great 3rd quarter and along with sauntner turned the game after horrible kicking for goal.
Patto was alright in front of goals. But struggle to kick straight (wasn't alone)
Lynch got into it in the second half but plays like a tall midfielder. Won some hard ball gets and got a kick to the head for good measure.
Eddy was average, peake drifted. Irving is a ittle goer isn't he! Best side won but they will struggle if they don't find a crumber or two. Was playing 3-4 talls in the forward line with one crumber. Works when you have the likes of armo and steven playing midfield as they traditionally run to those positions.
Smith needs to find a way to get into positions that will hurt th opposition. Was one of many who overused the ball in close.
But the one that suprised me was archer. The thing that I asked myself was, what did he need to do to make the AFL grade and thats polish. Good sized body, great hands, knows how to play forward and works hard. Has gone past cahill.
(note spent lots of time moving around following the forwards each quarter so less known about the backman)
