Round 1 = 10 goalkickers
Round 2 = 9 goalkickers
Round 3 = 8 goalkickers
Round 4 = 6 goalkickers
Round 5 = 4 goalkickers
We didn't lose because of any particular player, we can't even blame it on the fact we have no Roo, it's because we need more players to kick goals.
Gram of course is a very important player, but I think if Jack Steven is ready to go, we need some goal kicking midfielders and that should come into the selectors mind this week especially against the Doggies.
It's not the end of the world, and it's easily fixed IMO
Why we lost, and why we'll improve - goalspread!

You can guarantee that Gram would have been #5 last night, Roo #6, Ray a more distant possibility. Seems Mini has dropped off the list. Steven is a genuine goal kicking mid/forward IMO, so maybe a good inclusion for next week?
With the team behind the ball last night, there was never much of a chance of there being a good spread of goal-kickers.

Looking at it this way, goalkickers outside of our traditional forward line.
Round 1 - Peake, Geary, Gram, BJ, Dal
Round 2 - Joey, Dal, Armo, Geary, Peake
Round 3 - Gardi, Joey, Gwilt, Dal, Gram
Round 4 - Dal, Jones
Round 5 - Fisher
People are quick to target the forward line, but keeping in mind we dominate when we are less reliant on key forwards, I think it's pretty clear what the problem was last night.
Though I should also include that we haven't seen much of a contribution from our rucks resting forward either so far this year.

Also interesting to note, some of which will probably impact selection this week.
*Our best goalkicking mid is Dal contributing 5 so far this year, averaging one a game.
*One of our small forwards has kicked a total of 2 goals this year, for a return of 0.4 a game.
*Resting our ruckman in the forward line, has only contributed 1 goal so far this year.

That was the interesting part I noticed.degruch wrote:You can guarantee that Gram would have been #5 last night, Roo #6, Ray a more distant possibility. Seems Mini has dropped off the list. Steven is a genuine goal kicking mid/forward IMO, so maybe a good inclusion for next week?

We had almost everyone going defensive. You have to ask why.
Does Lyon believe that without Roo, we have to revert to a shut down style?
Mind you some of that was happening in the first few weeks also.
Still reckon that Zac should go fwd. Gwilt doesn't work up there. Leave him back.
Bring in another mid.
Kosi wil get the best defender, then BJ, then Zac.
Big problem last night was that even when we drilled the ball long, the crumbers were nowhere to be seen.
