Raph Clarke...and others

Post: # 912785Post BigMart »

Someone please try and defend that game.....

He made as many errors as possesions....he missed a target 9 meters away which was not marking distance anyway....he fumbled more than I have seen an AFL player before....worse game of his career...and thats saying something...

Milne not far behind....the heriocs of last week, followed up with a simply woeful performance unacceptable for a 28yo....and that gap between best and worst...still as wide as Bass Strait....can he be trusted not to be a liability outside of Etihad and against a reasonable opponent.

Gardiner.....Not an A-Grade Ruckman....he is a C-Grade ruckman who has occasional good games..a lumberer most of the time

Mini....just not good enough....effort OK...polish and penetration not

Hayes and Sam Fisher Butchered the ball

Zac Dawson.....which fwd in the AFL is not looking forward to playing on Zac atm.....Ebert had 4 shots at goal in 5 minutes on him..

Koschitzke

Armo/Geary - excused due to inexperience, but they need to improve a fair bit..

Positives
Gwilt
Schnieder
Gilbert (star)
Dal/Joey OK
Goddard OK ish
Blake/Baker solid
Eddy
Peak - not poor

You have Gilbert as a star, but he was very poor in the first quarter, about every kick going straight to the opposition. He improved as the game went on, but he was a shocker early.

Yes he was a part of a losing team that played below its own high standards. Can't see the point of this thread ..other than to have another "Abusefest" of Raph..does nothing to help our cause!

I thought Gilbert was on Ebert early and Zac on Tredrea?

Poor is being kind regarding Gilbert's first quarter.

His use of the footy can be either wonderful or woeful.

Having said that, I will be surprised if he's not an All-Australian footballer by the end of the year.

And for the others. Gwilt was not as effective as he has been when playing in defence. It seemed to me that Goddard was moved out of the forward area where he was so effective the previous week, either because Kosi was back, or to cover for Gram and Ray. Either way he had his worse game of the year.
Schneider went missing for a large part of the game, but was our best early.

All of the rest were down as well. It is a tribute to the team that we did as well as we did.

FYI he turned 30 last month, does that cut him any slack?

Yep i agree lets get rid of the whole team!

The way i see that list Raph is the least of our worries! We got comprehensively owned by Port's mids and backline! Not to forget our ball disposal was absolutely shocking! If the ball even got down to the Forward 50 the ball was either over the head of our forwards, at their feet or even worse straight to the opposition without any of our guys near them!
They went in thinking they would have an easy game and they got caught out. They now have 6 days to turn that mind frame around and prepare for the doggies!

Thats Mr. Smartarse to you

What a load of crap.

We've been 'UP' for about 30 weeks of football - straight.

We've become the hunted. Other teams are gunning for us every week, AND missing a few of our best 18 including our best player.

We still could have won. Port outplayed us completely at our own game, and we still COULD HAVE WON.

Disregarding our belting of them early last season, they have been our bogey side for over a decade.

They outplayed us, outcoached us all night.

Simply put, they turned up and we didnt.

correct. that's why i saw it as a danger game the whole of the week and wasn't particularly surprised at the result. still disappointed though.

the forward line's lack of potency without riewoldt is a worry and i hope we don't revert to excessive numbers behind the ball.

Can't see the point of over half of the threads that have been posted since last night Jiggster.

Surely Bigmart could have found one of about 20 Raph Bashing, Kosi Bashing, Milne Bashing, player bashing or Coach bashing threads available on the forum already about this topic to post in? Why the need for a new thread for a topic already heavily covered on the forum..??

This is just pure BS.

If you didn't rate Zac's game, just say so don't make stuff up.

Ebert had about five shots in the second quarter. Dawson was only on him for the last one. He spent 90% of the game on Tredrea and kept him pretty quiet.

Correct - Why hasn't anyone defended Raph yet....we must agree he was disgusting....he was WOG by a long way... he made ridiculous errors...

Correct - Milne would be second in those stakes....13 possesions - 8 clangers

Correct - Sam Fisher and Lenny Hayes 10 clangers

Correct - Andrew McQualter 3 kicks...two tackles...not enough for a defensive fwd

Correct - Justin Koschitke....well

Correct - Michael Gardiner....7 possesions

Correct - Zac Dawson who was on Ebert leading up to HT for 5 mins whilst he took 3 marks on the lead...Zac stood the mark in all of them...prompting the commentators to say a move needs to bemade...
My opinion - Zac Dawson has not played well since R18 2009....and should thank Jason Blake for saving his arse most of the time

Correct - Gwilt 18 possesions as a lead up presenting fwd....4 tackles
Correct - Schnieder 24 and 3 goals...top game
Correct - Montagna 36 and Dal 18 and 4 tackles 4 clearances OK
Correct - Eddy used it well for his 18
Correct - Peak 18 and not many errors
Correct - Goddard...some very creative use
Correct - Blake and Baker solid as always
Correct - Gilbert...24 and 10 marks (2 contetsed) as an attacking HB..he did turn 4 over, but does take high risks with the footy..and had one mis-kick...Gilbert not only wins contested ball but gives drive...he is heading towards elite defender IMO

If I was playing in a backline that conceded only 48 points I would be fairly happy with myself.... but If I was playing in a forward line that could only muster 38....well..a bit like a cricket team blaming the bowlers for not defending a score of 100.

The saints were beaten by a better side on the night. They were simply not god enough. Funnily enough it happens.
