Matt Hansen was at St Kilda for a while too.

I think Waldron head hunted him after he took over at the Storm.

this.

It is unbelievable, the stupidity of the fraudsters is incredible.
not really apparantly there was a whistle blower so they knew where to look
makes perfect sense that a whistle blower is involved. very very sad for the supporters.

Expect there to be stories on this and on us in the papers over coming days.

I'm hoping like hell we are ok, because I have that many Carlton friends who will only be too happy to return my jibes with interest!!!

I understand that when Carlton was done that ALL clubs were investigated.

We are jumping at shadows.

Cooking the books is pretty old school anyway. The new way of doing things is to find businesses to sponsor players outside of the sport. Look at Judd and Visy, Ablett and Cotton On (potentially), etc, etc. All the clubs do it now. The AFL cannot touch you for that.

What's worse the AFL or the ATO?

I say burn the books and let the ATO have a go.

Premiers stripped of 2 premiersahips and 3 minor premierships.

I knew it had to be Geelong but the media seem to have got the story confused.

IT MUST BE GEELONG how else could they be better than the Saints.

Collingwood are desperate, they still want our 1966 flag.

he was tight as. kept the club on a firm financial footing and wouldn't have paid players over the odds (IMO).

Bit of a relief, surely we wouldn't have been anywhere near the salary cap in 02,03 and we only started to get good at 04 where many people would've already been signed onto contracts going into that year

THE AFL will investigate St Kilda players' contracts during Brian Waldron's stewardship of that club from 2002 until 2004.

The Age understands investigator Ken Wood interviewed Waldron in 2003 over the Saints' departed ruckman Peter Everitt, who demanded more than $100,000 from his former club as he tried to recover money from his old contract. The Everitt case is expected to be looked at again.

Really, if they were serious, they would investigate the entire code.

Same goes for League.

If one's doing it, sure enough the rest will be too.

Is anyone else worried about the implications this will have on our club's integrity?

I might be making a mountain out of a molehill here but I can't help but worry just a little.

Someone reassure everything will be fine.

Both Hammill and Gehrig were already at the Saints (on contracts) prior to Waldron taking over as CEO.

Maybe an extension/new contract was signed for both whilst he was in charge, but those contracts would have been scrutinized a number of times by the AFL already.

St Kilda, like all AFL Clubs uses certain schemes to pay its players adn the AFL have investigated those schemes a number of times.
They have all been passed.

Don't forget that GT had a hand in player contracts and the AFL would like nothing better than to destroy his credibility. A new investigation is highly possible.

Elvis lives. Staged his death to avoid paying his taxes. And JFK was shot by the CIA.

rb would have signed off on everything, though. the club wasn't spending much in those days if the financial reports are anything to go on (IMO).
