Lol he tried to mark it!

Such an outrage that he couldn't mark it.

Suspend Goddard for two weeks.

This thread is a joke.

3 minutes 7 seconds in. Watch and see for yourself. Little hard to see but you get the drift.

Does not look deliberate at all, just a passionate kick.

The kid tried to mark it but couldnt. haha

Kicked a tumble punt...Basically a drop punt that turns the opposite way.

Seriously its ok to be honest about this - no one is going to look up saintsational and go and charge goddard with intentionally causing harm.

Goddard kicked it exactly where he wanted to guy - hard into the cheer squad.

Sooo, you weren't outraged by the action, only the colours of the target?

Outraged?

Said I thought it was poor form. Didnt say I was outraged. Didnt start a thread saying I was outraged.

ok, Sooo, the action wasn't "poor form", only the colours of the target?

The action was poor form...I think you'll find that I stated those exact words...If posters arnt putting wording into my mouth - they are trying to take them away from me! 8-)

Poor form is poor form....But if it hit one of those 'rapist' screaming maggots in black and white.... Well it would still be poor form that would ironically give me a warm fuzzy feeling inside!

Knowing our luck, the AFL Gestapo will judge it reckless, high contact with medium impact and give BJ a 4 week holiday.

You have to be joking.

If you know anything about Goddard you will know that he is probably the most intense and fiercely competitive Saint playing for us.

Just look at the way he gave Zac a serve telling him to pull his finger out during the game.

So IMO I doubt very much that Goddard, when it is still is at a critical stage of the game, would focus on "hitting" the Freo Cheer Squad rather than just foccusing on the game and in kicking the goal.

IMO he would not even have been thinking about the cheersquad, or anyone behind the goals. His only thought would have been to ice the goal.

Im sorry that a child got hit and hope that they are ok....... but
It goes the same right from country footy up, dont park you car behind the goals if you dont want a dent in it, dont stand there if you dont want to get hit.
If you sit behind the goals at a game and you see a player streaming in like that duck, if you have your kids with you get them to duck too.
I never want to anyone to get hit or hurt but I also want to make sure of those 6pts so I want the boys to drill them home.

No way in the whole wild world that Goddard was aiming at the crowd.

The idea that a professional footballer lining up for a crucial, hurried shot on goal in the middle of a close game, without 100% certainty that he wasn't about to be run down, would have the time to think "hey, I'll deliberately aim at the crowd and hurt somebody" is the most ridiculous thing I've ever read on Saintsational.

He stabbed at it because - like most players - he thought that he was less likely to miss that way than if he kicked it high in the air.

Get real.....

I know this is a beat up and a non issue ... otherwise imagine what the cricketers would have to deal with for deliberating hitting a six into the crowd.

Imagine getting hit in the face with a cricket ball .. and cricket is such a boring game, I'm sure spectators zone out completely and would be sitting ducks.

They work fine. You just need the right codecs installed.

Download PERIAN for Mac. Free. Install. Should fix things. For lots of videos.

This (now three page) thread is a perfect example of why sports media outlets give air time to s***.

"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'

So the best kick just about in the AFl happened to miskick it. Of course he was aiming for the cheer squad. Id be pretty sure he wasnt trying to hurt anyway but he was aiming at them.

That's interesting Spinner.

I wasn't at the game and just assumed after first watch that it was a mis-kick.

I've watched it a few times over now and I agree - Goddard kicked the ball exactly where he wanted it to go!

He was at full pace, looked around and realised he wasn't getting caught, lined up the tumble punt and went BANG.

Poor form, yes. But am I allowed a little ?

A couple of other points: Does Goddard have a history with the Freo cheersquad? I know Baker and Milne would. Was there an incident with Freo fans, relating to Goddards brother being in jail?

Also, BJ's goal towards the end of the 2nd quarter, his third goal I think. Receives from Joey, 35metres out in the clear and on the run again, going to Freo cheersquad end. He kicks a controlled, low, direct drop-punt which bolts straight through the middle of the sticks and crashes into the top of the fence, curiously, just a foot or so from the purple masses.

Spot on, no way he aimed at the crowd. All he did was kick a goal and win a game for his club.

Where exactly did I say he mis-kicked it?

I believe he was just aiming for goal. He only got the cheersquad because they were behind the goals. very much doubt that he even thought about the crowd at all.

Does he kick like that normally. I will answer for you. No. By the way if Pav did the same how would it be on this board today?
