Yep.

You'd reckon Robbo would be directed at editorial meetings to provide a counterpoint.

It's just how things work.

Still, he's a tool.

Robbo said it was a 9cm tear today on SEN...

sounds big but who knows.

It might have torn in a good spot, or a bad spot.

It might have been a messy tear, a or a clean tear (I don't know if there is such a thing by the way)

My point is who knows how long he'll be out.

It depends on a few things...

The surgeon, the type of injury, Rooeys body, and it abilty to recover, and his rehab.

All these thing considered could mean a 4-6 week variable in when he's finally ready to play.

Maybe Robbo was mixed up?

It was tear 10cm from the bone. Have not heard anyone else say it was that big a tear.

Robbo is very much surprised every time he successfully ties his shoelaces. Nothing can be assumed from what he says.

Maybe Robbo misread The Australian article too...

How do you have a 9cm tear in a hamstring? Long ways?

Anyone know?

My undertanding has alwas been that non'complete hamstring tendon tears tend to be more like a nick (excuse pun) in the surface of the tissue, and the depth of the nick tells you the grade of the tear... IUf so you'd reckon it would be physiucally impossible to have a 9cm tear.

But I could be talking out my arse completely. Does anyone know the realities?

Thats what he said, maybe I misunderstood what he said.

But thats why he thinks Roo may not be back this year because of the size and position of the tear.

Thats the way I understood it.

He did say that....but doesn't make it true.
My interpretation was that he went on to say he thought ROO would be fit by about ROund 18-20 and that we might decide not to risk him.....hence him saying he might not play again this year....strange!!
My previous post on this:
Was driving home at that time.
Robbo went onto to say that the Saints will have an interesting decision to make if they are top of the ladder late in the season when Roo is ready to come back (he was saying round 18-20). He was saying we might decide not to risk him if we have done well without him (cos he is a million dollar footballer). IMO it is exactly that reason they will play him as soon as he is ready. No way will they attempt to go into the finals without him if he is fit...just to keep him for next year...stupid. If he is ready...he will be there....he himself will demand it.....

My thoughts exactly, which is why I posted it....very strange comment indeed from Robbo. He not only said it, but went on to justify it. Not a chance it will happen though.

Lets just see where he is at in a month...

We all know he has a bad hammy injury....

Just let him get on with recovering.

Get excited when he starts running laps again.

In round 8 :P

A bit pessimistic there.

No doubt it is going to be a lot harder to beat the best sides now. But against many as long as we play our Saints Footy we should be good enough to win.

Against the bests side it will now be a real battle.
Disagree with this logic - its not just the best sides in AFL you have to worry about.....thats dangerous thinking for mine...

...
Where did I say that you do not worry about every team?

What I stated was that if we play Saints Footy that it even without Roo should be good enough to beat most teams.

Our midfield is intact.
Gardi is in useful form.
Our backline apart from Zac is outstanding.
We have some good small forwards.
Our tweaked gameplan is getting more goals from our midfield.

I just do not see us losing to most teams just because we do not have Roo. If we play up to our best we will still win most games.

However as I also stated the best teams will be more of a challenge now.
Where in my original post did I say we'd lose most games now without Roo - before being labelled a pessimist??

I see....only your allowed to put words in peoples mouths....
