Reconciliation meeting tonight between Saints/Pies

Post: # 904824Post Milan Faletic »

Source:Ch 7 news

Greg Westaway has been reported as saying that they want to avoid an AFL investigation.

Eddie Maguire is hoping the matter can be resolved.

Saints are looking for an apology from Malthouse.

Pies are looking for an acknowledgement from Milney that he was part of it.

Expect 90,000 at the G in Round 16.

Sheeds would be proud.

What a lot of horseshite. Seriously.

Oh we can't have Malthouse's good name besmirched publicly... Pfffft... Smokescreen rubbish... Lame as.

Sounds like a common sense solution to me. With the ongoing issue of Andrew Lovett to yet be concluded, the last thing we need is a toxic war of words, when the REAl battle is on the field for four points.

Bit like demanding a victim of road rage assault acknowledge they may have tooted their horn...

Unless Milne made an initial equally slanderous comment, they should gratefully grab the opportunity to apologise unreservedly, and move the hell on.

The Club need to maintain their strong stance of defending our player. At the same time if the Collingwood Football club are prepared to accept their responsibilities in this mess, then all parties can make peace and move on, as mature adults should be able to.
I think that Milney (and all our players) should be defended, and if push comes to shove and the conciliation is not upholding that principle, then we should go all the way. But if an opportunity to achieve an honourable settlement presents itself, then we are bound to explore the possibilities.

Best to get it dealt with and put behinds us so that Milney can concentrate on next week's game. With Roo out we need all our remaining forwards up and firing and therefore can't afford to have Milne distracted all week with this Malthouse nonsense.

I'm not sure how much more value there is in grinding an apology from malthouse through an AFL tribunal, than in keeping ourselves completely focussed on football matters and particularly winning that "big one"
Get it sorted and lets get on with the REAL stuff!!!!!

slightly amused at eddie this morning saying " why would the saints want to drag this out" so nothing about HIM resolving it---- or it being a distraction for them

Good on the saints for pushing- even if they do accept an apology-
media is still coming down on the side of the Saints...

What a shocking example to set your players -a senior coach and assistant verbally abusing the opposition on camera.

Hopefully we are firm with this. If a fire builds between the two clubs well so be it.

Hopefully we can construct an us against them attitude and carry it through the season much like Collingwood, only difference is we win the thing at the end.

Malthouse and Eddie dont admit they are wrong in anything.

That's why no-one has respect for either.

Intelligent men, who lower themselves because they think they can never do wrong.

.....What's that about 'respect' Mick? How about you just stick to discussing 'ignorance', 'stupidity' & 'dishonesty'.... Things you clearly excel at.

It's a non-player disrepute issue. Surely the AFL should just act regardless of what the two clubs bang out behind a boardroom door.
In fact, I can't recall a more obvious example of so blatantly bringing the game into to disrepute. But no...Collingwood gets to trample all over the petunias by blaming the petunias for being under its feet. What crap.

Well I suppose they were players once too and players use whatever methods available to put their opponents off. Malthouse was a shocker.

Luke Darcy
The idea was that if Licuria - renowned for being an incredibly decent human being - felt empathy, he wouldn't be able to compete as hard.

Yeah we noticed that decent human being Darcy and how wrong you always seem to be.

Buckley is the forward coach of a 4. 17 team. Don't think he would be loving it that much.

Maybe Licuria is the goal kicking coach.

and whats all this crap about Malthouse conceding ground and admitting that he called Milne a "pest"

FFS

I think it's pretty clear now, the point has been made, the incident has grabbed the headlines, if it goes no further it doesnt matter - it's drawn attention to what really happened and what was said and not too many out there would doubt the "credible" account - the account that drew attention to the issue in the fist place...

Any agreement between the Saints and Pies probably means nothing now.

The AFL have to deal with Malthouse or they leave an opening for future conflict between opposing coaches and players.

Malthouse will cop a fine.
