I was sitting right up the top of the dome and only really noticed armo on about 5-6 occassions... but it was one of those games where I couldn't tell all the brunettes and dark haired players apart
Gee i was getting armo confused with Dal....Being so high up on the wing 20 looks extremely close to 26!
well then maybe i just didn't notice him much in the packs,

What? I wasnt being cheeky, I was being fair dinkum serious.
We sat high tonight - and I can hardly see the numbers. Didnt notice Armo much - but towards the end realised I cound hardly make out armos #20 because it looks like #26 and vice versa!
I need to see more of Armitage - he doesn't get enough of the ball.

k10 h-11 m-4 t-8 ff-1 fa-0 g-1 b-0 alot more quality in his kicks.. tackles were harder and he kicked a goal
I just reckon Armitage and Ball offer basically the same package, with Armitage's ball use better. Therefore, we are ahead with him over Ball. Neither rack up many possessions, neither have pace; but they'll both... well, we all know how they are similar and the roles they play.
If there's one spot left and its for either Armitage or Geary, I'd go Geary for sure. Certain Saints players still, to me, look a bit flat in this side; a step behind in thought process and vision. Armitage is one of them. I think a few others but it only provokes vitriol to list them.
The only thing that is holding Armitage back is self belief. Give him some time. As soon as he realises he is capable and worthy of his spot he will flourish.
FWIW I feel he offers a lot more than Ball currently does. A Lot More!
The thing I noticed about Armitage is that when he gets the ball and kicks it forward from the centre it goes deep into our forward 50. Sadly Balls kick would barely make the 50 metre arc.
Saw a bit of the Coliing wood Melbourne game and watched as Ball tried to place the ball over the Melbourne players head to his team mate from 30 metres away.
The ball didn't make it and was easily intercepted.
Saturday night, Armitage sent a spearing 50 metre pass from half back to half forward, something Luke Ball can no longer do.
The more I read on this thread the more I realise anyone who thinks we shouldnt have taken pick 30 for Bally just doesnt understand footy. Bally was obviously a very ordinary player who should not have worn our jumper last year. Pick 30 was obviously to much for him. Maybe we didnt do a trade because the club actually wanted pick 50 for him and Collingwood wouldnt do that.

I think hindsight would say that pick 30 was probably not too bad in a weak draft...and that perhaps the club should have taken it. Ego may have gotten in the way.
But then again I can't blame the club though in trying to engineer a situation where we would have gained Everitt for Ball as that would have been much better than pick 30.
Sometimes you have to just stick by your guns.

interesting that a caller rang SEN this morning - a Collingwood supporter - and complained that Jolly was not much chop and the Ball couldn't kick to save himself!

I think if people watch the the game , especially the last quarter closely Armo was very influential in the midfield . Continually won the ball out and ran hard to help defend.
Certainly adds a touch of toughness to the midfield that people thought we might miss with the departure of Luke Ball.

Does he have a reason to think we owe him money? Think we all need to move on is all, s***s me that 3 years, 2 prelims and a grandfinal on there are still people debating the coaching position at the club. Just hope Armitage can be Armitage and not the Ball replacement.

Heres an interesting tidbit from the pies board on BF ......
Spoke to one of Luke Ball's old PE teachers who has always spoken very highly of him even from an early school age. Bally is super intelligent and apparently during a team meeting he questioned one of Ross Lyon's plays in front of everyone saying that "mathematically" it couldn't work and told him where it would break down. Rossy didn't like it and argued his point- and that was the beginning of when the relationship began to strain. From then on Ball was always out of favour with Ross Lyon.

Think he slept with Malcolm Blights daughter, Leigh Matthews slept with his wife, he had a 3some with Wayne Carey and Anthony Stevens wife, sold the drugs to Ben Cousins, pissed on Fevolas front window, passed on the Lara Bingle photo and sent text messages to Warney whilst in a team meeting.
Maybe he got dropped last year and didnt get a lot of game time in the granny, wanted more money and more assurities of playing time than we were willing to offer and decided to move on to sure up his future and play at a club where he felt he could be a more valuable contributor.
Maybe he is alos an ex captain, best and fairest winner and 100 game player who bled for our club and should be payed a small sceric of respect.

1/ Both walked out on the Saints.
2/ Swapped clubs to maintain remuneration of more than he is worth (Can't blame him for that though.. But timed supoerbly as both if they had stayed would have been playing reserves footy))
