I thaught he was pretty good. Yes he made a couple of errors but in a game that tight and this early in the season a couple of errors like that can be excused.

He will stay in the side and I prefer him to Raph because he is a bit bigger, takes players on and is a bit more flexable.

Clearly, far better suited to a back role than a forward.

[quote="Enrico_Misso"]Serviceable.
Couple of very costly turnovers.

Will he hold his place when Sam and Raph come back?[/quote

Give it a break. Was every other player error free.?

Seriously, in the background a few times you would see guys running and suddely just lose their footing. The surface looked like Waverley when it was copping all the criticism for being a "beach".

i've never really been a Gwilt fan - however I think he has shown enough during this years NAB series as well as last night to indicate he will at least be a serviceable player. Like his foot skills and a couple of times at least put his body in the right spot.

Certainly wouldnt have his head on the chopping block .. for now :)

I reckon Gwilt is better under pressure than Raph and uses his body well -doesn't go to ground.

Gwilt is a beautiful kick so if he can do a job defensively and get the ball a bit then he will really add to the versatility of the team for RL.

It would be great if we had the option to push the better players like BJ & Fisher further forward.

I think Gwilt played well - he looks more composed down back than Raph thats true....Im still not convinced Raphs a backman....Im more convinced Gwilt is...

Actually thought that when Gwilt went one on one with Goodes, he beat Goodes.
Looked much more composed and confident with his abilities Sat night.
Has earned his spot for now.

far from worst on ground, serviceable. Played his role well.

Good defender though.

Compared to last year Gwilt looks to bea better player now....more of a "footballer'.

In the past I have looked at his games and thought he is avery good athlete playing football.

He now seems to be reading the play a lot better and exercising better football judgment.

Interesting to note that Gwilt has now played 42 games.

Gwilt has two qualities which make him a very good half back, He is very strong from the hips down which allows him to hold his ground in marking contests and secondly he is probably in the top 3 or 4 kicks at the club. His kicking efficiency is brilliant and he can kick it a long way. His major weakness is he tends to lose concentration and goes missing sometimes. But so far this year he has been very good for us

Yes I had noticed that in the past as well.

He had often looked good..but went missing.

I agree that he certainly seems to have really improved in this aspect.

That is interesting, from your earlier point about players needing 50 games before settling in.

Gwilt definitely looks to be finding his groove.

He got the same number of possessions as Ball did as a midfielder .. but of course unlike Ball he also ran and kicked the ball beautifully .

Good effort and we do need a solid, strong bodied player in defence - he fits the bill !
