Interesting "expert" comments from Matthew Lloyd
Don't know if anyone heard this but Robert Walls asked Lloyd about the emphasis of tackling from the start of his career to the end of his career. Lloyd correctly stated that the forwards do a lot more tackling now and have to, to hold their spot on the team.
Then he went on to mention that the Dogs have passed the Saints and WILL pass the Saints in this area. His basis, the NAB Cup Final. Big call before Round 1. Maybe he has been smoking the grass he used to throw up in the air before he used to shoot for goal. Anyway hope he swallows his words and that this fires our boys up!

very early to suggest that the dogs can not only equal but beat the saints in pressure and tackles. At least wait till both teams play at least one round of the regular season before you make that call.... hence why I am suprised....chook23 wrote:many thinkthe doggies have us and the othersSolar wrote:caught that as well, suprising

Cooney/Murphy fit
Higgins and others appear to have come on
will be mighty hard to beat.

Basically he sees the Dogs as having become as good as the Saints in tackling and pressure , but will pass the Saints as they use the ball better (ie this them gives them the edge in Loyds opinion)...not that they will pass the Saints becuase they tackle better.

Personally I'm very happy with this Dogs hysteria..reckon it will increase our chances no end..and watch Hall implode at some stage
..Lyon and the team would be very happy about the perseption its a lay down messaire before a ball has been kicked in anger in the real season..people so easily forget how long a season it really is
..even the last 3 minutes can kill you

Never take a backward step even to gain momentum.....

Lloyd actually praticised the dont argue to the face to avoid being tackled.
The more you know, the more you know you don't know.

Now that I am old and know so much more, I know that I know so much about so little, and so little about so much.

Nah you're right to use the abbreviation, I'm sure I have quite a few times. It's just that I was reading a television website a bit earlier today so the studio names were still in my recent memory

Why do you guys refer to the FOOTSCRAY FOOTBALL CLUB as the Western Bulldogs.
Are you being paid by their media department to use their marketing name.
Try as they may they are Footscray and everything that entails.

After the NAB Cup Final (on SEN) Lloyd claimed that the Dogs now equalled the Saints on pressure but their skill level was "phenomenally better" and he couldn't see the Saints beating them this year.
To my (partisan) ears it sounded like an inexperienced commentator getting swept up in the hype and letting loose with a thoroughly intemperate comment. Which hopefully comes back to bite him.
Hopefully.
