I'm pretty shocked that Peake got selected.
The pressure is surely on him now to perform!
No Raph Clarke?

Definitely have Peake over Clarke, surely?!battye wrote:I'm pretty shocked that Peake got selected.

Peake offers genuine speed and I think once he settles into our system, he'll be a really handy player.
Clarke needs to do so much work on his game. Not saying he doesn't have it in him, but I can't find a spot for him in our 22.

I AM PUMPED!!
Could not be happier to see Geary, Armitage and McEvoy all in the line up and I've got my fingers crossed that they will stay there.
If we are going to improve on last season it will come from these three blokes IMO...

No surprises.
Only decision I imagine that caused any discussion at the table would have been Smith v Peake - I knew RL would go with Peake because he has a history of giving his mature recruits every opportunity to make it and then some. So no real surprise there.
and
Rucks - probably made easy by Gardi's lack of match practice.
So all in all no surprises. McEvoy, Armo, Gwilt + Geary were always going to be in.
p.s we may still see A Smith debut if lenny doesnt come up.

Totally disagree, personally I think Raph can offer more than Peake.evertonfc wrote:Definitely have Peake over Clarke, surely?!battye wrote:I'm pretty shocked that Peake got selected.

gardiner obviously needs more work in his legs, good to see macca in there. This will be pattisons job for the year, keep yourself fit and firing in case 2 rucks are out. Keep developing stanley for the year at sandy.
lenny is back, might be a lae replacement but thats always hard to tell. Congrats to smith on a good pre-season which see's him grasp an emergency position. Eddy would be lenny's back up and a credit to him for working so hard to get back from injury.
raph needs work under his belt and might get a chance up forward (cross fingers).

Is King under an injury cloud? Pattinson plays no NAB time at all and makes the emerg list? RL obviously rates Eddy...again no NAB time although he did play very well for Sandy last week apparently. Kudo's to him!
Lenny still to face one more fitness test maybe?
Congrats to Big Mac on taking the No 1 ruck role
Pretty handy lineup!!!

I am happy for Peake that he has his opportunity, it's not that surprising, as it's not unusual for Ross to persist with someone for a couple of weeks.evertonfc wrote:Definitely have Peake over Clarke, surely?!battye wrote:I'm pretty shocked that Peake got selected.

He always gives ample time and opportunity for a player to make a spot their own before trying something else, I hope he takes his chance and becomes a great player for us.

whatever. raph has a hammy and has no match practice. so its not relevant. hes not even up for selection. why are people on here so obsessed with raph!IluvHarvey wrote:Totally disagree, personally I think Raph can offer more than Peake.evertonfc wrote:Definitely have Peake over Clarke, surely?!battye wrote:I'm pretty shocked that Peake got selected.

Very glad about that. I wouldn't want to see him playing senior AFL, after not having played more than a few minutes of an intra-club match all pre-season.battye wrote:

Hopefully he'll work his butt off and dominate in the VFL and push someone out of the seniors.
Very glad to see Gwilt there, but I'd certainly prefer to see him across half back and BJ across half forward. Jimmy has has his chances to show something up forward and does better down back.
Bring it on!

Sydney are not to be underestimated. We usually struggle to beat them and they're apparently a lot more forward in their preparation than they usually are at this time. Plus it's at a ground that we may not have played on before.
Their team on paper looks perfectly capable and well balanced, with no obvious weaknesses.

very much so, nice midfield they are building up with some good ex hawks and a big forward to kick to. Will be a tough game but I will back the boys to grind it out. Wont be a fun game to watch but take the points and it wont matterAnythingsPossibleSaints wrote:Sydney are not to be underestimated. Not just one big guy up forward to kick to (Jesse White), but some bloke called Goodes, another called Bradshaw and classy guys like Ryan O'Keefe, Jetta and Jack up there as well. That's a fair forward line, if they're all fit and in form.

Agreed. Seems a little strange that Jimmy was named as forward considering he played (and stood out) on the half back line throughout the preseason.AnythingsPossibleSaints wrote:

But then again, theres never much significance in the positions they release.
