That $5 could go towards half a chicken roll!
I've only been to Telstra Dome once (2006 for an ODI), what do chicken rolls cost now? I seem to remember it being quite expensive?

i would say you would need to get the cheque book out to buy something like that, but im not too sure. i get a foot long from subway outside, that fills me up for the day and night, for only about $7 also.....$7 would get you a grain of salt for your chips inside the groundbattye wrote:That $5 could go towards half a chicken roll!

That's a rip off-20%increase. Why don't they just make it a bit smaller and charge less. Half the stuff in it is guff that you can read on the internet.

Fantastic...all you needed and nothing more.
And without the crap fluff pieces that bore everyone to tears.
I can remember it being six pence.

But they neatly folded into your pocket in the Moorabbin days. Sure, they left your newspaper in ruins but it was certainly worthwhile.
Then in about 1993, they went to full-page editions, nobody liked them for being so cumbersome and that was the end of that.

There is so much cr@p in there IMO
Does anyone have a link to a site that displays the team list, with numbers, on a round by round basis???
I would just print that out each week and take it to the match
Don't wait for the light at the end of the tunnel to appear, run down there and light the bloody thing yourself!

The Football Record was introduced in 1912 when player numbers were introduced. The Record was the only publication that was allowed to print players numbers. That's why you had to have one back in the day.evertonfc wrote:I'm not that old!Saint Bev wrote:Bloody hell, how old are you, I never new they ever did that :lol:evertonfc wrote:Bring back the days of cutting the 'record' out of the old Herald.

There was a very short period where the Herald or the Sun published player numbers and the VFL made teams send players out with different numbers each week. It may have been in the mid 70s.

the sun published the guernsey numbers on the eve of the 1958 grand final, prompting the vfl to order melbourne and collingwood not to wear their regular numbers. this was done to protect footy record revenue.Bernard Shakey wrote:There was a very short period where the Herald or the Sun published player numbers and the VFL made teams send players out with different numbers each week.
hence barassi wore no. 2 instead of his famous 31. in fact, every player except for collingwood's ray gabelich wore a new number and gabelich probably would have changed, too, had they been able to find another guernsey big enough.
apparently in the 1965 grand final, six st kilda players and five essendon players wore different numbers after a sydney-based company published a booklet that contained the guernsey numbers of all the finalists.

The price had to go up so they can pay Demetriou his $1,800,000 salary.
$35,000 a week has to be paid by somebody and you have been selected.

They aren't expensive compared to programmes at other events, but still a rip off indeed.
I used to collect records back when they were around $1 or $1.50 each, had over a hundred of them.
It's all AFL endorsed propoganda, why read AFL spin when you can get more meaty copy from the papers or on here?
Times have changed.

Not The Record per se - ie: the Geoff Slattery publication - but like a custom, mini-record, made by the Herald (I think) that was distributed on a Saturday morning. You used to cut it out and then, if you could be bothered, staple it together.saintsRrising wrote:Are you talking record? That's probably too much hard work for this generation. I still bring rolls and water bottles to the footy
