The last one was at the end of last season, he does one at the start and the end. The one at the start takes into account how he thinks they'll go, whereas the second one is purely based on that year.doggerel wrote:I lose track a bit - how often does he do this list? Annually?
Last time I saw his list he had Clinton Jones at 48. Since then Clint has gone forwards in leaps and bounds. But now he has dropped out of the list? Hard to understand.
CJ and Gilbert should both be in it.

Lenny at 12... seriously... the list is ok, but this is a massive mistake... Ablett aside, Lenny is the best mid in the comp... And getting better... His '09 was his best year, and there is nothing to suggest he wont be as good, if not better, this year..
Easily top 5...
IMO, top 5 goes-
1.Roo
2. Ablett
3. Jon Brown
4. Lenny
5. Goodes
or maybe Judd at 5... toss a coin...

My guesses:
1. Gary Ablett - Mike will say something about Ablett 'ignoring the talk' and retaining his spot as number one player in the comp.
2. Nick Riewoldt - Wouldn't rule out Mike dropping him to #4, but I think Mike will grudgingly put him at #2 even though I don't think Mike thinks we'll make the GF. I think.
3. Adam Cooney - I bet Mike sees a big year for Cooney, featuring a premiership at the end.
4. Joel Selwood - Mike loves hype, and Joel has led the comp in hype 3 years running. I wouldn't rule out Mike putting him at #2 if he thinks the Cats can win again.
5. Lance Franklin - There will be some mention of Buddy 'rebounding'.
6. Jonathan Brown - Mike isn't sure if he'll work well with Fev, so he'll drop him a little lower than last year.
7. Chris Judd - Mike has posters of Judd on his office wall. No top-50 would be complete without him.
8. Luke Hodge - Another rebounding Hawk. I bet Mike has them pencilled in for a top-4 spot.
9. Adam Goodes - Could be higher. Depends on how much Mike loves him as a forward. I'm guessing, 'a lot'.
10. Matthew Scarlett - Mike usually includes a token defender in the top-10. If he's not in there, he's out of the 50. I don't think Mike will drop him that far. Not after the exclusive interview Matty gave him last year.
I think all those guys are possibilities. Feel free to correct any mistakes I've made.

I mentioned this a couple of years ago when some posters on here thought that Kerr would be good trade to the Saints...clarky449 wrote:yeah had a bit of a laugh, i mean Kerr is a very good player but we haven't seen that player consistently for quite some time!St Fidelius wrote:lol

I said that he is basically crap and has hid behind Cousins and Judd and I predicted that he will not cope with a tag....
Bingo... no Cousins and Judd and Kerr struggles and not only struggles he tends to lose it at times...
For Sheman to suggest that Kerr is #18 in the league is a joke IMO...
One does wonder at the end of the season just what position She-man places Kerr???
Don't wait for the light at the end of the tunnel to appear, run down there and light the bloody thing yourself!
Daniel Kerr did not hide behind Judd and Cousins. You almost make it sound negative that he was part of a premiership winning team and such a strong midfield. He was tagged then however he is tagged harder now. Plus his body he let him down over the past few years. He has always been a hothead who takes out opposition players almost without reason. It is the way he is and he is a damn good footballer for all his supposed faults.St Fidelius wrote:I mentioned this a couple of years ago when some posters on here thought that Kerr would be good trade to the Saints...clarky449 wrote:yeah had a bit of a laugh, i mean Kerr is a very good player but we haven't seen that player consistently for quite some time!St Fidelius wrote:lol

Daniel Kerr at the Eagles during their premiership year is what Leigh Montagna is to us minus the premiership. There are too many good midfielders in our line up for them to all be tagged closely so someone is going to get free.
Stick Leigh Montagna into the Eagles line up and he would struggle week in week out two being the only decent hardened midfielder in a young line up.
If anything, Leigh Montagna has been overrated from just one great season. At least Kerr has strung a few together/

Appears to be the Top 50 Most Hyped Players...how could Barry Hall rocket from 6 months out of the game to top 50 based on his (albeit sterling) efforts in a few practice matches. Read a recent interview with Brodie Moles, who said he didn't know what hit him when he played the NAB Cup GF, the intensity doubled. That's the difference between NAB and AFL H&A.borderbarry wrote:6 Bulldogs so far, including Hall, who on last year should not be in the top 250. Only 5 Saints and Cats and Pies, including Jolly. Apart from Hall and Jolly, only 2 Swans? I think he has been reading too much Magpie and Bulldog publicity.

Sheahan is hardly the only one predicting a big year for Hall. If anything, his optimism is muted compared to some of the stuff being thrown around. I would think Hall either kicks a lot of goals and finishes very high up the list or doesn't make the list at all. I'm trying to think of a scenario whereby Sheahan puts him in the top-50, but not very high. 60 goals, maybe? A SF exit for the Dogs?
Morris and Kerr are the odd ones to me. Not because either are bad players, but surely you choose Morris after Bock, Fisher, Bolton and Taylor. That's only guys who play a similar role. Kerr has had trouble staying healthy and breaking tags. Sheahan's clinging a little too tight to him whilst dropping Cornes, who IMO has shown more in PS.
Mitch Clark seems a little low for Mike. IIRC, he was arguing that Mitch Clark should be the AA ruckman at the end of last year. Seems strange he's now sandwiched in between Jolly and Tippett.

So you suggest that Joey is worth his spot at 34 and Kerr is justified @ 18 coming into 2010???
Flower me Kerr is a no go @ the Eagles and I have always stated that after Judd and Cousins left...
So in your opinion you really think it has changed now and Kerr is considered 18 this year and Joey is @34???
Kerr is a front runner and has always been, I don't give a flower what your thoughts are with "sticking Joey in the eagles line up" he his a Saints player and averaged 28 possessions a match with over 6 tackles and 6 marks match...
Whilst Kerr just played 11 matches with and average of 19 possessions a match with under 3 tackles a match...
Kerr is not and will never be considered a good midfielder IMO and for sheman to suggest that he is 18th is laughable....
Kerr has played 22 matches in the last two seasons, his best is behind him IMO and again @ 18 in sheman's top fifty is a joke...
You stated that Kerr was "tagged" even whilst Cousins and Judd played...
Who was tagging him in those matches?????
You say that Joey is "overrated"....
Just what seasons has this Kerr "strung a few together"???
Don't wait for the light at the end of the tunnel to appear, run down there and light the bloody thing yourself!
Kerr is considered a champion of the game because he is one. From 2003-2007 he was dominant and improved to become one of the best midfielders in the game. That is 5 whole years of supposedly being a front runner. He is nothing of the sort and his gut running and ability to push himself to the brink had him vomiting constantly during games much like Roo.St Fidelius wrote:lol Montagna overrated @ 34 whilst Kerr has been found out minus the Cousins and Judd....Saintsfan wrote:Daniel Kerr did not hide behind Judd and Cousins. Personally as much as I like Joey he has had 18 months of quality football. Before then he was hit and miss and drifted in and about of games despite the obvious talent. Kerr has played at a much higher level over the stretch of his career and will definately go down as a better player in comparison to Joey.
There is no point throwing those stats at me because both players played in vastly different teams. Daniel Kerr has been stuck being the only real hard experienced midfielder in a young Eagles team and he has suffered for this. He gets roughed up and thrown around and he has nobody really to assist him. Joey has Dal, Goddard, CJ, Gram, Lenny, Armitage et al around him for support. He doesn't cop the heat often due to quality players being around him.
To reiterate. Joey would struggle much like Kerr has in the Eagles team. Kerr would dominate if he was in our team.
Just because you stated that Kerr is a no go because Cousins and Judd left does not mean its correct. It could not be further from the truth.

Don't go throwing the "champion" tag too freely....
Yes, his best year was in 2007, and I would doubt he will ever reach those figures again...
Those figures were an average of 27 possessions a match with 8 goals and 11 behinds from his 17 matches...
and in his last two seasons he has just played 11 matches a season ...
I just feel that he is his 10th season of AFL and his best is behind him ...
To state that
and Joey has more to come is just amazing imo..Kerr will definitely go down as a better player in comparison to Joey.
PS I fixed up your spelling error on definitely.....
PPS Kerr has, and will always be OVERRATED!!!
