This isn't based from tonight's game as we had a lot of ordinary performances but it's been his whole pre-season and my 'gut-feel'.

I just don't think Peake is worth persisting with.

He is quick but he isn't the best reader of the play, seems a bit soft, doesn't get too much of the ball.

TBH he is behind Geary and a few others for mine, I just don't see what role he plays in our structure.

I hope he is nothing more than depth.

He's worth persisting with, but is not in our best 22 at the moment.

Will take time for him to learn Saints Footy.

He might be quick, but I don't think I've seen him "run and carry" once in the whole pre-season. At best he takes 3-4 quick steps then dishes off hurriedly. I can't see him getting a game ahead of Gram, Geary and Ray who would be his main competition.

This guy cant seriously be in our best 22.....

His disposal under pressure is pretty ordinary.

I would take alastair smith ahead of him

He hasn't done much yet, but only expected him to be a depth player. I am more disappointed with Armitage who was supposed to step up this year to fill the LB gap. He is a bigger worry IMO.

I have seen Peake at Freo many times and his problem is that he doesnt get the pill as much as you would like. He doesnt break packs with his pace.
He doesnt dispose the ball well when close to full speed and turns it over a lot, that hurts.

If we had good clean clearances his pace could be of value but he doesnt have Lovetts speed or ability to break open wide spaces for creativity.

Our preseason is looking good at the moment but I hope I'm proven wrong.

Midfield clearances and clear winners are needed to make an effective forward line.

You need to protect the ball handler to increase posession efficiency

Good call. Smith has been very impressive in a couple of NAB Cup games and has shown enough to suggest there's something there to work with.

Re Armo, he should go home tonight and watch the tape of the doggies intensity around the stoppages and take notes

He will get there but needs to work harder to match it with the best

Below average. He's not good enough for our best 22. Not by a long shot. Done diddly squat. Needs to earn stripes at Sandy.

Peake played from Freo...

You would play a 5 year old Auskick junior before any Freo player.

not in our starting 22 atm... not even close.

However, far too early to write him off completely

If that's the case then our list isn't nearly as strong as some are making out.

Our list isnt strong but our game plan is the best in the AFL.

It will need to be if Peake gets a game. Doesn't deserve it yet.

Probably right. Better to play Stanley and Smith.

Trouble is that we are only playing 2 quarters with the game plan in mind. Other teams will now have strategies to puncture the zone and the Saints dont seem to have plan B.

You know what, I haven't studied our list or our potential Rd1 team, but both those players you mentioned deserve a spot in our team as much as Peake does at the moment. Can you mention one reason why we would pick Peake for Rd 1?

Lovett may have been a bit too quick. The only wide spaces he will be breaking open now will be out in the bush.

What a waste of talent.
