Goddard interview - SEN **Update on Jesse Smith**

Post: # 890375Post Quixote »

Just caught the end of it. Mentioned they don't have the same running base, quantity wise, as other years because of the late start to pre-season. But went on to say, quality wise, they're ahead of other years. Running really well, PB'S, etc.

Also, when questioned about the backline, and players such as Gwilt and Miles freeing BJ up down there, Goddard mentioned Jesse Smith. Jesse has about a month of running under his belt and by the sounds of it, is coming along very well.

If Jesse Smith could come good it would more than make up for losing Lovett. He's a great footballer and was our wildcard for sure.

Hope you don't mind I've edited the title of you, but a lot of people will eb very excited to here this news.

Jesse Smith is in the top 10 most talented players on our list, if he could become a very good player for us it would be an unbelievably good pick up for pick 60 odd. A fit Jesse Smith and an improving Jarryn Geary could be fantastic pick ups as they'd free up Gram to play an attacking winger role and Goddard to play a midfield/ pinch hitting forward.

So what can read into Smith now?

A possible senior selection mid-season?

ie. half a dozen games for Sandy from about round 3 perhaps of the VFL season?

yep, a good dozen games at a minimum seems the best way to go!

Great news re Smith.

Really if he can get himself fit and into form the backmans spot currently being held by Jimmy will be his for the taking.

For a #60+ pick he may be a steal.

Hopefully he stays on track and has no set backs. Any games from him is a real bonus.

2011 would still be a better option, long way to go re AFL fitness I would presume.

Lance or James??

There comes a point in every man's life when he has to say, "Enough is enough." For me, that time is now. I have been dealing with claims that I cheated and had an unfair advantage in <redacted>. Over the past three years, I have been subjected to a <redacted>investigation followed by <redacted> witch hunt. The toll this has taken on my family, and my work for <redacted>and on me leads me to where I am today – finished with this nonsense. (Oops just got a spontaneous errection <unredacted>)

i reckon if jimmy continues with the current good form; he selects himself. but smith will be a gun if he can get his body right.
