Tom Lynch

Tom Lynch was our first round draft pick in 2008 and I would have thought he would have been given a game in the NAB Cup. He is not listed as being injured. Does anyone know anymore?

He's still on track. The shoulder rehab is going well. Apparently nothing to be concerned about.

Would love to have Lynch play a game. Even Winmar or Walsh.

Getting the best 22 ready for round 1 is obviously imperative and the way we should go.

Given that he's had no pre-season gametime don't expect to see him anywhere other than Sandy for quite a while.

Apparently if you have an ISSUE you are not injured, you just can't play.

A couple of bloopers last night, but also did some excellent things.
From seeing him play for Sandy last year and again last night, it seems he's able to give defenders the slip very well on the lead. He doesn't look it, but is apparently very quick, which combined with his height and obvious footy nous, will hold him in good stead.
Hopefully he'll play again this week and be given a chance in the season-proper sooner rather than later.

Yeah. Looked real keen and he's a terrific body shape. A couple of things didn't go his way last night, but he looked a willing type.

Watch this space I reckon.

Looked understandably nervous at the start, but I was really impressed the longer the game went on. A beautiful pass into the fwd 50 that set up a goal, as well as a couple of things that indicated a good footy brain. Once he adjusts to the pace of the game I reckon he could be alright.

Would like to see him build his upper body up a bit more, but he has a few years to do that. A couple of rangas in the team adds a bit of character I reckon.

That kick into the 50 was very Goddard-esque...

I was surprised about his size though, he looks a lot bigger in the VFL.

I don't think he will ever be big enough to hold down a key forward role, but he seems to be a lovely mover and user of the ball, IMO we should be trying to develop him into a Ryan O'Keefe type player.

Our future forward line is begining to look VERY promising with players like Rhys Stanley, Jack Steven, Tom Lynch, Nick Heyne and even Tommy Walsh, he have a lot of good types coming through.

Agree. Our recent recruiting doesn't appear to be as poor as some on here would have us believe

saints stats have him at 192cm.......doesn't look that tall standing next to milne....

We've done extremely well with some of our higher picks (20-70 odd) and the rookie draft.

Unless something goes very awry with him, I expect he'll have a long and very good career. He apparently has very good leadership qualities (was captain of Vic Metro) and showed apparently terrific determination to get back from his knee injury of a couple of years ago.
Word is that he's very competitive and has the ideal sort of attitude to succeed in the AFL. As for which position he'll play, they got him to be the "lead-up 3rd forward" (which we pretty much all acknowledge we've been lacking), so I doubt that will change. The sooner he's ready, the better for us.

Completely agree with you....I made a post a few weeks back about our future line up and possibilities for each position such as Lynch, Stanley, Heyne, etc but got responses like "the side doesn't look to have class"
