Actually said the case will be heard if the committee agrees it can go ahead.

Chairman has declared he's a Saints supporter.

Oh joy.

Failed umpire and wannabe sports commentator, derek humpshis-fist has finally found an ex footballer that will talk to him.

His mum must be so proud.

Why provide a link to the Hun when you're quoting a radio report?

so the grievance tribunal hear the case......where can this lead?

I mean......not re-instatement?

If they deem his sacking unlawful....so what? do they then hand out penalties?....didnt think that was their role?

Does this put an end to court action.....or just the start....I notice Lovetts lawyers preferred to go here than through the courts?

Gonna drag and be messy this one....just hope its not a distraction.

the fact that lovett's lawyers have decided to go through the grievance tribunal does not mean that they will not go to court. it is likely that they will go to court regardless.

one of the things i hear over and over again at law school is 'explore every option', so make no mistake if lovett's lawyers are doing their jobs properly they will go through every hearing they can for their client.

if you look at it from his perspective it is understandable why he would do it: his afl career is over, meaning that this process is his last chance at generating any substantial amount of money from his enormous talent. he will definitely be exploring every option. this will drag on for a long long time.

as much as the media will try and use this to mess with the players heads, the players are going to have to get good at not letting 'former saint in court' headlines distract them for the next two years...

I don't want to be pedantic here but I really hate how the media portray Lovett as a St. Kilda player.

Lovett is a "former St. Kilda recruit" similar to the multitude who have been on our list and never played a game of senior footy. In Lovett's case, never a game of footy at any level.

To me, the media should refer to him as:

"former Essendon player and former St. Kilda recruit - Lovett"

Just my two bobs worth!

This is ridiculous.

This is a Football forum! Let's talk about football!

i haven't abused anyone...just picked them up on a very racist statement...got abused for my trouble...as usual.....

, don't read it....and don't give me directions...

....for the record..i find your post abusive as well as bullying.....
Funnily this comment was the first thing i thought of yesterday.
ignore him
he abuses everyone
but dont call him up on it
or he'll cry, and then abuse you saying he doesnt have to listen to what you say and tell you not to answer him, while abusing you

but he takes offense when someone calls him up on it
then accuses them of stalking
and cries again
and then runs dobbing to teacher

I don't think they did find that he was a 'St Kilda player', just 'a player'; and therefore subject to the jurisdiction of the tribunal.

Just when you think the whole debacle couldn't get any more disgusting the lawyers nitpick their way to a conclusion that ensures they can buy a new Merc.

What a complete and utter disgrace.

So over hearing our club dragged down for this.
Fact he never played for St.Kilda, yes he did have a contract.
As much as I hate to say this I think the club should negotiate a payout quickly and get rid of this situation, the longer this goes on the more our legal fee's are going to be ,the legal eagles will be the winners, the continuing saga will cost us heaps!
Let's bite the bullet settle this case and move on!
Whether he is innocent guilty broke his contract I am sick of hearing his name associated with our club!

Where there is a will there is a way..

OR rather,

When there are $$$ to be had there are lawyers..

I believe that argued that even though no longert a St Kilda player that he is still within the provence of the AFL and hence AFL Grievance Tribunal.

excellent article on the whole sorry affair by russell holmesby in this weeks inside football........headed"saints painted as sinners over lovett's sacking"....makes some very good points whilst maintaining that the saints owe lovett nothing.....would agree with him 100%....

...asks how the aflpa's endeavors to assist and defend lovett sits withthe other 40 saints players who seemingly are happy to see the back of him.....

no winners here as russell states....not the saints...not the players....not lovett....not the aflpa ...not the afl...and certainly not the real alleged victim.....

suggest pple buy the mag. and read the whole article.........also lots on the saints.....

had to be...silly argument by the saints inho....otherwise the grievance tribunal would be toothless...a club would just sack anyone at odds with it before the tribunal could be brought into play.....

Principle Stinger.

Next time a player goes through this the circumstances might not be so cut and dried.

You would know the importance of precedent.

Many players have been shafted by clubs, our players should realise that the AFLPA is in this to ensure the security of all players.
