Has Roo lost weight?
Definitely looks like that to me, most noticeably in the legs.
Clearly more definition in his quads/hammies than he had last season which is giving me the impression that he's quicker, more agile.
Or, it may just be his tan.

Cutting down body fat but maintaining muscle mass gives the impression that someone is more muscular.doggerel wrote:Get some glasses Degruch! He looks lean as.
He's definitely looking more cut all over the place.saintsRrising wrote:Well his shoulders and arms look much bigger..maybe that makes the rest look slimmer.
And it's nice to see him get through a game without limping as well.
He's flying.

Wot he said, Doggerel. Pls, TV puts on 10kgs (especially if you're watching it, drinking beer and eating chips), anyone will tell you that.OLB wrote:Cutting down body fat but maintaining muscle mass gives the impression that someone is more muscular.doggerel wrote:Get some glasses Degruch! He definately looked like he had lost weight, rather than gained it. I don't really understand the mechanics of muscle mass etc, but he looked fantastic to me Super fit, confident, and didn't seem at all bothered by the knee. He certainly did looked very tanned and the hair will take some getting used to. THe shock of blond hair always made him stand out a mile, but when they first ran out on the ground I found it hard to find him and for a moment thought he wasn't palying.
I remember seeing him interviewed a few years ago (think it was On the Couch) and he was talking about his goal kicking and admitted how nervous he gets (to the point of throwing up before games) and that the first kick of the day is always the most nervous for him. How good was the first goal tonight. Knew he was going to have a good night after that kick.

Agreed the tan helps people look fitter and healthier in general.
Don't know what it was exactly but whatever it was he looked great.
A great reminder again tonight of what a star he is!!!
(and as well as the tan, he has definately been laying off the bleach over summer. Can't believe I'm talking about his hair, but it was such a change and made quite a difference watching him, especially from the other end of the ground)

That's right, everyone looks fitter this time of the year because of their tans.plugger66 wrote:It may sound strange but i always reckon players look fitter with a bit of a tan. He is darker because of the time of the year and also his hair is definitely browner.
A lot easier to see definition with darker skin, which is why BJ never looks massive.
I'm coming across as a super metro here. BRB outside chopping wood while opening cans of beer with teeth.
He's never bleached his hair. Has said so himself. German heritage, I guess.saintnick12 wrote:Agreed the tan helps people look fitter and healthier in general.

Which means he must have had it darkened. Hmmm.
(can't believe I'm talking bout his hair either)

Do you think it's possible that he looked more relaxed kicking b/c he's had a full pre-season as opposed to other years? More time using the balls rather than concentrating on just getting himself right for Rd 1. I reckon it has to help. You could almost tell the blokes who must be doing all the ball sessions. Schneider looked super confident (he's a great kick anyway)
Rooey looked every bit the champ he is last night. let's not forget that back in 04 he was a beautiful kick for goal, and in fact kicked 9 or 10 and hardly missed one game against the dees at the G. AS long as he kicks the goals taht he should kick, everything else is a bonus. It's frightening to think that he can play better than last year, but I think it's possible.
