Clearly the club has a ton of information that's been available to it, and they've reacted on it. I'm sad that the Lovett deal hasn't worked out for us, but it's no-one elses fault other than Lovetts!
Certainly if there was any shade of grey about this incident, the club may very well taken a different approach.

When they created LENNY HAYES (in the shadow of Harvs) they forgot to break the mold (again)- hence the Supremely Incredible Jack Steven!!

Lyon apparently said the decision will galvanise the club and that's he glad they have a game to play on Friday.
Hopefully the decision will also galvanise the supporters and that we won't spend the next 5 years crapping on about whether or not we should have picked him up.
He's gone and there's a game in a few days time. Bring it on!

Chopped. Clean cut. "He is no longer an employee of the club".
Due diligence down on the recruitment. 'Had to take a risk' looking at a premiership. 'Risk hasn't paid off'.
'Ten references on his character from his previous football club' - Ross Lyon

Spot on, its a horrible act it as all down to Lovett.
I support the clubs actions, and hope the victim will be ok
I love this club
In fairness to other clubs no one I can remember has been charged with something this serious and also usually they have been at the club longer than 5 minutes.Batnoe wrote:Am glad this happened before the season started...
let's move on. he is not a Stkilda player...
It also opens up that we are not messing around... if you muck up, u are out the door, unlike other clubs with their wankers

good riddance this guy has caused us nothing but grief after giving him a chance to
1. stay in victoria
2. take his career to the next level
3. a shot at a premiership
i hope we get out of his contract because as far as im concerned he should be paying the st kilda football club.
even if he's found not guilty in a matter of a couple of months being arrested for being drunk in a public place
then investigated and charge with rape.
not only has he let the saints down himself down but he has let the aboriginal community down.
its guys like him that causes racial hate. the thinks hes better then everybody
can do and take what ever he wants and because of his skin colour he can get away with it.
there are alot of talented hard working indiginous kids out there who wouldve looked up to him and seen him as a role model

Two things.Con Gorozidis wrote:ok lets move on.
can we promote a rookie? if so who?
simpkin?
Still no point promoting a rookie unless you're about to select them in the senior side.
And secondly, I think any promotion should be distanced (timewise) from this decision in fairness to the promotee. You'd hate to be thought of as the Lovett replacement.
In reality there's no point looking to promote someone til Round 1 is upon us, and even then only if they're ready to be selected.
Good incentive for the kids over the next few weeks though
look the result is disappointing, but it was a gamble and when you gamble, sometimes you win and sometimes you lose.
this time, we lost. but who's to say our pick 16 would have produced a champion?
philip

Just looking forward to us having a real crack each week, and appreciating the younger talent coming through.

no details given.chook23 wrote:With the termination....I am not sure if I missed it but was a payment (settlement)being made with the termination..........or just not paying anything at all as of now.
saints cant provide any details that may be seen as being prejudicial or having any bearing on the criminal case. details of his payments - or lack of them might be seen in this light.
for instance - if they were to say they werent paying him - this could be contempt of court - and lovetts lawyers will claim its impossible for him to get a fair trial etc etc.
so no details will be given on anything.
just hes sacked for general misconduct. thats all we will hear.

Agree Batnoe, you have to take risks in life, some work, some don't. Best that it is sorted now. Proud of the way the club has handled it.Batnoe wrote:Am glad this happened before the season started...
