The Gabba. Round 15
Anyone usually make the trip up or planning on doing it this year?
My Dad and I are keen to do it this year, and I would like some advice from the experienced.
Any recomended hotels to stay at?
Is it easy to get good seats, or do the Lions members have a stronghold on them like the Eagles supporters do at Subi?
Also, is there a Saints area to sit in, if there is how are these tickets purchased?
Cheers

St Kilda supporters always get the crap seats and they spread us around the ground so we can't make to much noise. When you book your tickets just ask to sit with Sainters or the Cheer Squad. Lions supporters are infuriating and don't understand the game. But the Saints supporters are inteligent and good looking

i have never stayed at a hotel up there, i only do the day trip or stay with family so cant help you on that one there sorry.
tickets are pretty easy, brisbane supporters are a no show unless they are playing collingwood or carlton. As Bev said, they put the QLD saints and cheer squad in different areas so hard to work together to make noise, the CS is in bay 17 behind the point post, and the QLD saints from memory are in approx bay 31 on the 50m line at the other end of the ground.
in 08 i know you could buy tickets att he game in the cheer squad bay if you asked, so that wasnt bad, but that was a 1.10pm sunday game, saturday night may be a totally different story

"Another storied win in Robert Harvey's career. They say he is the embodiment of their motto of strength through loyalty, and on the day he became just the tenth man to play 350 league games the saints reward him with a seemingly impossible victory."
We have already booked at Kangaroo Holiday Apartments.
It is hard to get a hotel close to the Gabba.
Getting to the ground is fine, but getting home is another story.
Last time we stayed at the Gabba Serviced Apartments (straight across the road) but it was a bit expensive.
We have also stayed at Econo Lodge City Star (was City Star Motel once).

Batnoe, presuming you are a Saints member, did you know you get a free ticket to our game in Bris as part of it? St Kilda also have a 3 game membership if you don't want to do a regular membership. Sit with Sainters, more enjoyable.
Don't know about the $100+ ticket, never heard of it. Tickets are generally around $35 and yes they generally sit us Qld Saints in Section 31.

It's the Gold Class ticket which is on sale for all Gabba matches from the beginning of the year and has been since the improvements to the ground were completed in 2005:Saint Bev wrote:...Don't know about the $100+ ticket, never heard of it....

The "ordinary" tickets for general admission are on sale two weeks before the game.
As far as I can see, the Membership brochure makes no mention of the 3 Game Membership containing access rights to interstate grounds (just three home games), nor does the Interstate Membership (5 home games at Etihad).

I am a member and so is my girfriend (social members)
however i have about 10 mates i am trying to get into footy and especially St.kilda and they would enjoy the game more if they sat with me.
So i usually get a Lions 3 game membershio where i can select any 3 games for about $100 at the GABBA, my mates would also watch these games too. I know it is a waste as i am a full member but i cant see my mates enjoying the footy if they werent sitting with me when they dont really know the footy anyway

So what procedure do you follow to get the ticket? Go to the ground? To Ticketmaster?Saint Bev wrote:Thats true perfectionist, its not publicised, however, us Interstaters have been enjoying this for 4 or 5 years now. Doesn't matter what type of membership you have, but you must be a local to qualify for the free ticket.

You ring or email the club when tickets come on sale and they send them in the mail, you must let them know your membership number
I have still claimed my tickets in the past and gave them away...
I'm a Brisbane member and supporter and I haven't missed a Gabba game for 5.5 seasons. You will be right getting a ticket, the Lions have sections for the oppositions supporters, these are section 17 on level 1 (your cheer squad area) and section 55 on level 3. Section 55 is great viewing.
If you buy your ticket prior to the match you get free public transport to and from the game, just show your game ticket to the bus driver or ticket inspector upon request. Stay in the Brisbane City or Southbank. If you require any other information I'd be happy to help.
