David Armitage question.

Post: # 879371Post siph »

I'm just wondering as I couldn't seem to find the info anywhere, or maybe I just don't know where to look.

Do we know if Armitage is going to be in our best 22 with Ball gone?

How many games are we expecting him to play?

Thanks and sorry if this is completely unknown or has been said before.

No one could know that. Not even Lyon.

I think the 'intention' is to play Armo in place of Ball, but yep, I don't think any spots are guaranteed.

However Armo would have a very good chance to become a regular first 22 player in 2010..if he is good enough and can fulfill the role that the coach wants.

However Ball only makes one vacancy....and Peake, Geary, Steven and Armo are all competing to squeeze into the 22 in 2010.

Only good football will achieve this. Competition will be fierce.

One of the skills that Armo has which I really like is his goal kicking ability. He is a really good, accurate goal kicker and if I remember correctly (but my memory is pretty terrible!) he averages something like one goal a game. I remember a goal he once kicked in a NAB cup game, might have been a final, and it was really impressive. Can't remember the details, but I remember feeling that particular goal was a match-turner. Anyone else remember such a thing?

IIRC it was the goal that won the NAB GF for us against the Crows.

I really hope Armo does step up and takes Ball's spot this year. Has always threatened to take the next step but never has.

That was Jack Steven against Geelong.

The armitage goal was against Essendon the week later IIRC, I seem to recall Roo and some other senior players going nuts on the bench...

Nah I think it was the semi versus the Bummers. Riewoldt was on the bench at the time and he lept up when he kicked it

Another opportunity awaits!

Bingo, this is so a dream team/super coach question.

Me personally I've steered clear of Armo, way too expensive. Will wait and see the pre-season form or might wait and see how he's done at the end of round 2

Seems like an early waste of a trade to get him in after round 2..Especially as you would have to trade sideways to do it, which is always something you want to try to avoid (Unless you have an injury)

Thanks for the responses guys.

I too hope he can break into the side, from what I watched of him last year he seems like a really exciting player, and I'd love to see his career take off.
