With pre-season just over a month away, thought it would be good for us to shed on what moments we enjoyed in 2009 and what we hope to see more of in 2010.
One of favourite memories is the round 1 clash against Sydney. Midway through the second quarter, Sydney have a respectful lead and despite us dominating the inside 50's, we can't get a mark from the twin towers. Jolly leaping onto Kosi's back and taking a screamer pretty much summed the kind of day at the office we were having. But to then see Kosi only a minute later leap onto Jolly's back and take a similar style screamer brought me out of my seat. He went to kick the goal which was a nice bit of cream, but what made the moment for me was to see Kosi finally get on top of a class opponent.
That's what I would love to see more of in 2010. Kosi to lower the colours of more of the competitions best rucks and full-backs.

Zac's winner in the dying minutes to sink the Blues after they'd stormed back into the contest... and his celebration thereafter.
Loved this moment...and his season.
Even more so because i was there (interstater so only get to 3/4 games a yr sadly).

A couple of round one moments stand out for me. Dawson levelling BBBBH and Mini's blind turn goal. I liked that Mini had to explain himself to the press after that one. Turned out both were a sign of good things to come.
Some others:
Gardiner's mark and goal against Geelong in R14 is a clear standout.
I nearly passed out from lack of oxygen whilst cheering Roo's sealer against the Dogs.
Dawson's reaction after the Hawks game was priceless. His goal against Carlton was up there too.
Geary's first goal against Adelaide. It seemed to kickstart his year. Hopefully Steven's first against Hawthorn was a sign of things to come.
Joey's point against Sydney.
There would have to be some tackles in there, but none are coming to mind.

Yeah nah pleasing positive
Some of those early thrashing was very enjoyable. Beating Hawthorn with nearlly half the team out was awesome.
But my two favourite highlights would be (sorry can't split them), Gardiners mark against the Cats and Roos goal when he ran along the boundary v Coll, was replayed many a time. I guess getting into the GF was pretty good also.

Other favourites and potential improvements are:
Milne. I know at his age we've probably seen the best he'll do, but he was always criticised for not travelling well and after good performances in Adelaide, Perth and Tasmania, I would like to see him continue that interstate form. How I would like to see him add another dimension to his game is to play well during finals, assuming we again qualify for them.
Armitage. He was on fire in Tasmania and I would like to see him cement his spot in the middle.
Milne. Watching my team led by Riewoldt walking out onto the G GF day knowing that millions were watching, wishing that was their team and that I would be here in a seat on this historic day to watch a club filled with slim successes grab only their second flag in 100 yrs against the so called "superstar" side....

Ah 2009..the year that was but wasn't 
I'll start with round 1. I had been unsure about our recruitment with Zac and honestly thought the club had made a mistake. It didn't take long for Zac to win me over. His knock that sent Hall to the ground really set off a Zac's character. Throughout the whole season Zac never once appeared intimidated by his opponent, in fact he appeared to do a little intimidating himself. I loved the way he went about his first season at the Saints, and he's actually become one of my favourites to watch. He was a big highlight for me in 2009.
Demolishing Collingwood is always fun, but 83 points was pure heaven, especially while watching Milney give it to their fans. Ah, priceless.
The season as a whole - winning that many games was just awesome and the season is one i will never forget. Obviously it's going to be remembered now as the missed opportunity.. but this thread is about the highlights!..
Travelling to Adelaide round 2, not expecting to win, but walking all over the crows on their home turf. Nothing was sweeter than walking around AAMI with my Saints gear pumping fists and hi fiving other Sainters along the way. The second game against Adelaide is worth mentioning too. The media had been building them up non stop, their 7 wins in a row blah blah blah, they were flying. Well our boys brought them right back down to earth, and hard. We burried them, and in style. I loved that game.
Now i'll skip to the finals, it felt like we played fairly ordinarily against the Pies, yet we still beat them and were well on our way to the Prelim. Again, I didn't feel as if we really played good enough to win v the dogs and had it not been for our A class captain and vice leading the way we wouldn't have. For me that was Nick Riewoldt's moment where he really well and truly made him name for himself. Not just as a star, but as a champion of the game.
I won't mention the Grand Final, but the parade really was a great and proud moment. Despite the weather it didn't ruin the day for me. Watching the boys pass by and realising we were actually going to be there on that last Saturday in September was just an amazing and unbelievable feeling. I remember being in tears watching Lenny wave past as it was just such a proud and unreal moment. It's even causing me to tear up now, too bad it didn't end like a dream but i won't go there.
But yep, the parade was definitely the highlight for me.

I personally enjoyed 2009 a lot and love looking back on it, while we didn't win the big one it was still a good year. Loved giving it to all my mates and I won a stack of money and lunches from them as well.
Some of my favourite moments were the West Coast game were we smashed them by 97 and got a huge score into the 160's. Obvisiously the Geelong game. The two late games against the Doggies and Crows in a row, were everyone was talking them up saying they were both a huge chance to end our streak and we ended up destroying both of them by 50 points. I thought we were no chance in the Hawthorn game, but to win it was just amazing, a great game and showed off some of our young talent.
The Prelimilary final against the Dogs was the most tense game I've ever watched, was just so tight and watching Roo just step up and win it for us was one of the greatest St Kilda moments I've ever witnessed.
And while we lost the big one, the week leading up to the grand final was pretty fun.

Hey, this is the single best thread I have read on here for months!
So many great memories and so many more to look forward to this season.
Without a doubt my moment was turning round to the two collingwood muppets sitting behind me at the prelim final when roo kicked the sealer and hanging it on them big style!

Some fine highlights but I dont think any of them beat the last 90 secs of the Prelim Final. Unbearable suspense that followed unbridled joy when Roo soccered that goal..then..in that last 45 secs..all through the crowd... pockets of Saints fans standing and cheering when the radio said how long to go and we realised we had it won....then a massive explosion of emotion when the siren went and we were in the Grand Final
Special mention to someone from here who rang his beloved and breathlessly announced the win with "Oh God I think Ive just had a heart attack'.....perhaps just a little toooo convincingly
