1991 Final St KIlda geelong 2 nite 7.40pm 7TWO
well if the guide is right...
they say time heals all wounds...hmm havent seen the replay ever since I was at that game. Its only highlights...maybe I can handle it 18 yrs on.
Was the day I began to resent Geelong...

was it the match where Ablett took out Burke behind play??

Yep, that's the one. It happened right in front of me.
Tony Liberatore was sitting next to me at the game... didn't recognize him until half time when all these kids came up asking for his autograph.
Never watched the game either... tis definitely the reason I dislike Ablett, and Geelong.

There is a 2 page thread on the game already on the forum. The game was shown a couple of weeks ago and we all discussed it.

Would be the 4th most disappointing game I have witnessed.
Obviously the 71, 97 and 09 debacles were worse.
The Sydney PF in 05 was almost as bad.
But 91 we were all bright eyed and innocent.
The world was our oyster.
Anything was possible with Plugger.
But
a ridiculous finals system
and that thug christian pizzaman-basher murderer
put a sudden end to it all.

The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.
They can even WATCH LIVE FOOTY!

Yeah I would have roughly sitting in the same position, scoreboard end, sitting on the upper level behind the point post side where Burke got cleaned up.markinUSA wrote:Yep, that's the one. It happened right in front of me.

Unfortunately, time wounds all heels, as Ablett has found, and doesn't heal footy wounds. And yep, that was the day. Then again, that fluke kick a couple of months ago gives them the last laugh.davidgrantfan wrote:...they say time heals all wounds...Was the day I began to resent Geelong...
Won't be watching it. It'll have to be the Best of Mr Squiggle (the early days) instead.

Yes, how true is that....Enrico_Misso wrote:Would be the 4th most disappointing game I have witnessed.

Geelong tried the thuggery style a couple of years earlier in the 89 GF against the Hawks.....
Essendon did the same thing against Melbourne in 2000 when Michael Long cleaned up Troy Simmonds early in the match....
I think the snipper or straight out thuggery has been taken out (more so in the final series)...
Yes, we where young, bright eyed and innocent in that match.
