Training on the Gold Coast

Post: # 867567Post Saint Bev »

Our Saints boys had their final training for the year on the Gold Coast this morning. It was extremely hot :D Our poor boys really copped a flogging on the training track. Session went for just over 3 hrs :D and the guys were totally buggered after.

I am eternally grateful to St Kilda allowing us access to the players. Will keep me going to goodness knows when I will see them again.

Happy to answer any questions.

Have heaps of photos, unfortunately I don't know how to put them up if someone wants to help out.

To preserve server space here, perhaps make an album on flickr or photobucket then post a link to it here? :-)

NIck Winmar seemed fitter than alot of the new young guys, he seemed to be able to keep up better. Jess Smith was there but but didn't train today, though pretty sure he did some light training on Monday. Andrew Lovett's fitness is good, trained with the main group, looked good. He's quite skinny. Tommy Walsh didn't train today? Didn't sight Robert Eddy the whole time. I asked Farren about him, he said he hurt his hip at training, said it has been an ongoing niggle of his, so he had an operation. Should be right by the time the season starts, but of course won't get to do pre-season. A few players have niggles, but there doesn't seem to be anything to serious apart from Eddy and of course Smith. Felt sorry for the kids that have just started. They must be wondering what hit them!!

I found these photos on the Age website from Mondays training - http://www.theage.com.au/photogallery/a ... -lapf.html

Very nice photos of course, however, my photos from today are way better, I am sure the girls would agree :wink:

Good photo's on the Age website. I wonder if they noticed anyone but Nick and Sammy Gilbert, though?

Thanks for all yr efforts recently Saint Bev! I'm sure you had fun taking that batch of photos :lol:

My brief observations:

* Steven looks completely different. He's hardened up and seems to have become a man so to speak

* Stanley has put on bulk, especially around the upper-shoulders, which is promising

* Zac looks terrible. Has lost heaps of weight, reports of this somewhere from memory

* Joey looks massive and the biggest of our mids by far. Has he bulked up?

* Gilbert's skin-folds are currently at minus49

* I'm so glad our lads are up on the GC training hard in the sun. Compare this to the absolute rabble they call Carlton

* Great to see Nick, Beej and Lenny running laps together, heads down, all looking determined

* Bring 'em on!

Wasn't Winmars main flaw his fitness? Great news if he has improved on it already.
