Folks, just a general comment on salaries: what's printed in the paper can be dismissed out of hand in 99.9% of cases. Where someone nominates a salary, you can guess cap hit, but cannot take that to mean end payout.

Team cap is printed every year in the CBA- for 2010 it will be 7.95 Million dollars ( http://aflpa.com.au/sites/all/files/AFL ... _FINAL.pdf ). A bit of reverse engineering using rookie reqs, first and second year controlled payments, and total list size, and you'll get some idea of the total size of the pie available on an annual basis. What you will not get is any indication of how individual clubs break down that available resource.

While we can take as gospel that established and proven AFL players make a great annual salary, the only other thing we can take as gospel is that anyone who claims to know who is on what, and is willing to tell you - doesn't.
