My thoughts are that's not quite right. I suspect Collingwood have made some under the table deals with the likes of Melbourne, Essendon & the Lions to ensure he slips through. Let's see how future trades btw those four clubs go and the ease they deal with each other, especially for the next two years. Or Collingwood may give up home games against them for a couple of years.SENsaintsational wrote:Good luck Luke. Hope you do well.
Also shows that his market value was actually pick 30, exactly what we were offered.
Fair enough.
There are more ways to get what you want than the obvious. Collingwood are not that lucky but they are skilled in manufacturing deals.

I dont intend to boo... I dont think... but I wouldn't be surprised if when he first touches the ball in round 3, we hear one of the loudest boo's ever from a Saints crowd.
...and then one of the loudest cheers if he has a shot from 40 meters out and it's inevitably touched on the line!
I just hope we destroy them.

I cant see how he could go at pick 30 without some very shady dealings going on.3rd generation saint wrote:I agree Ghostlike, something smells here and I believe the draft has been compromised.
Would love to see a huge scandal explode in Collingwood's face, wont happen though because the AFL looks after the greatest over rated team of the last 50 years.

what aggrieves me is that filth held off, being stingy and offered nothing for him over trade week. so we got nothing in return.
GOOD RIDDANCE, BALLBAGS!

Ball has gone for the money over all else and as a result will probably not play in a premiership in his career..should have comprimised and taken less money and asked RL how he could contribute. On the other hand, RL knows that to have a flag winning team, a midfielder needs to be fast, tough and do damage by foot, and that's why Ball would have a limited future at the Saints. At least he will be the smartest bloke at Collingwood if nothing else.

Have Collinwood got 500K a year in their salary cap ?
Were Collingwood confident enough NOT TO MAKE A DECENT TRADE knowing Luke would still be available at pick 30 in the ND?
Do I spell draft TAMPERING with one p or two?
Something smells here and it isn't Eddies after shave.
This filth of a club get what they want. Must be nice to be above everyone else.
How is the OP Luke ?

Ball has betrayed our club as he chose to leave after being offered a contract to go to Collingwood as an ex St.Kilda captain...
Seems he wasn't crying for the red, white and black after the grand final ...more likely for Luke.
We move on and Armo and Steven cover the loss...
With many I am very disappointed in a guy I once held in the highest regard...Stength through loyalty...tell me what the phuck that means Luke!!!!
I DO NOT RECOGNISE OR KNOW YOU ...YOU ARE NOW PART OF THE EVIL EMPIRE!!!

Collingwood chose not to trade.
They knew the AFL woud take no action against draft tampering.
They figured that the AFL would allow them to get Ball on the cheap.
Who would St Kilda have got for pick 30.
St Kilda would have taken Winmar at 30 then Sam Reid at 32.
St Kilda only missed out on Sam Reid.
Now the AFL has to pretend there is no draft tampering to go along with pretending there is no tanking as the measure of it's integrity.
Plugger has yet to explain how his assertion that there was no draft tampering because Ball would never survive to pick 30 works.
We wont see an explanation anytime this century.

The more you know, the more you know you don't know.
When I was a young child, I knew that I knew so much about so much.
Now that I am old and know so much more, I know that I know so much about so little, and so little about so much.

Because they obviously told him to walk on the proviso they would get him, then offered us a bag of chips.plugger66 wrote:How did they screw us over. Then Ball refused to speak to any club scaring them away.
The Bombers wanted him at 26 make no mistake.
The Pies took a gamble and it bloody worked f*** it.

Ball may think that he will get a million from Collingwood but he forgot that Collingwood supporters will soon learn where he lives.
Good luck trying to keep it.

We need to move on. Although his commitment could never be questiond, we have the inside word on his skills and stamina. At 250k on the saints list would have been expensive. Gets mill over two years and can't wait til Monday after round 1 when a pie mate says, "500K! The bloke can't kick". Only then will we appreciate RL and his decision making.
