I have opinions, but I'm not really a believer in having 'convictions' on matters such as this.SainterK wrote:
You can question, but you are firm in your convictions regarding Ross aren't you, and it's not as if anyone is going sway you?
I keep an open mind on everything, based on what I see, experience and hear.
So I can be swayed on anything.
And that's basically my point, why should we 'have faith' in Ross Lyon's decisions?
And that's what the original request was. It was in relation to Lovett and us having blind faith in Lyon's decisions....just because.
To me, open mind or not, isn't a great or strong case for the Defence.
Surely I don't need to write another essay on my actual thoughts on Lyon again? As opposed to what people have dreamt up to be my thoughts.

Tell me this, if you wrote two columns, one for the improvements in 2009 and one for the steps backwards, which column would win?
Ok, but it's not as simple as that.
Recruitment went forwards if you look at the H&A season.
It went horribly backwards if you look at the finals.
Fitness went forward.
Injury Management went forward (although BJ getting hurt, Zac getting sick and Roo popping an ab probably killed us in the end).
The Draw went forward (even though 08 was pretty good too).
Skills went backwards.
Selection went forwards if you look at the H&A season.
Backwards badly if you look at the finals.
Game day coaching went forwards in the H&A.
Backwards badly if you look at the finals.
Teamwork and less reliance on stars went forward for the first half of the year.
Second half of the season and finals it disappeared almost completely.

Even to the simplest mind, surely it was obvious that I wasn't comparing the 2008 finals to the 2009 finals.markp wrote:Yup, we obviously went backwards in some key areas in the 2009 finals.... but it was always going to pretty hard to top winning the flag in 2008.
For god's sake, stop feeding to cretin.
I was comparing 2008 as a whole, and highlighting that whilst we improved dramatically on 2008 throughout the 2009 H&A season, when it came to crunch time we hadn't really improved at all.

I never said you said that at all. If you going to be a smart arse, you've got to be smart. Otherwise it's very cringe worthy.

I am confused, you are comparing 2009 with 2009?
I meant in comparison to the year previous, not the H&A season v the finals?
So Lovett's drinking is the casue of why Ross Lyon isn't a good coach and we didn't win the 2009 Flag?
I am confused how this thread was jacked into the usual anti Lyon diatribe that happens when a certain poster comes on board.
Oh BTW I didn't say that, so dont call me

Lance or James??
There comes a point in every man's life when he has to say, "Enough is enough." For me, that time is now. I have been dealing with claims that I cheated and had an unfair advantage in <redacted>. Over the past three years, I have been subjected to a <redacted>investigation followed by <redacted> witch hunt. The toll this has taken on my family, and my work for <redacted>and on me leads me to where I am today – finished with this nonsense. (Oops just got a spontaneous errection <unredacted>)

without riewoldt's goals against collingwood and the bulldogs we were in a lot of trouble, so i agree this is an area in which we must improve.rodgerfox wrote:Teamwork and less reliance on stars went forward for the first half of the year. I say permanently!Teflon wrote:Again a thread hijacked by Dodg constantly contradicting himself to purely bait posters and make it about him.
Isnt baiting against SS rules?
Its farily obvious....the old stool needs a spell to "think things through" and allow genuine footy discussion to occur.
I say 4 years.
Mods?
DO THE MATHS AND THE SQUARES ARE ALL ROOTED.
There are plenty of reasons for banning, but disliking Ross is not really one of them is it...
I actually think that for someone who is adamant in his dislike of the coach, he almost seems to want to be convinced otherwise.
Then again, maybe not...
I will continue to post with RF as long as it's discussion, and to be fair, a poster did ask the forum to have faith, and he was asking that particular poster to explain why?
Which actually seems fair and reasonable?
Or not?

This is the biggest load of garbage I have read on here for a while, and I know that's a big statement.
We made and would have won a GF if we could kick straight, how that makes us go severely backwards is beyond me...
Because he has, and quite strangely, compared 2009 with 2009?
Given that Roger is not comprehending why people think Ross is well equipped to coach the team to a grand final win, I thought this would be a good exercise for him to honestly evaluate where the team had grown and moved forward from the year previous.
Somehow, this became seperating the H&A and the finals series, but I want him to see the growth in the side under Ross Lyons direction for the year in it's entirety.
If he cannot see that the club is moving forwards, then that's fine, but I am still waiting to see his response.

Exactly - in a nutshell. Gee there is some real crap posted on here or some serious baiting - mods???
I want to stand for something. I'm a loyal person and I think at the end of my career it will be great to look back and know that I'm a St Kilda person for life.
