joshua duncan afl website for draft hopefulls
I noticed his name on The afl.com.au website on a list of 200 hopefulls.
The club knows about him and will they pick him up with our last pick of 74 or wait until the rookie draft

dunno but with it being part of the NSW program maybe not and they are given a choice, of being a NSW rookie or taking their chances in the national/rookie draft, (note I am led to believe it is too late to make a NSW rookie now).undecided wrote:don't we get priority anyway so we could take him if he likes it or not.

As St Kilda did not offer him a senior place, he is entitled to and has nominated for the National Draft.goodie wrote:> If the scholarship listed player is of eligible draft age, a club may apply to transfer the player from the scholarship list to the main list on the day the main list is lodged (off-season) with the AFL prior to the National Draft (normal list numbers must be maintained).undecided wrote:don't we get priority anyway so we could take him if he likes it or not.ausfatcat wrote:Apparantly rejected a NSW rookie spot with us already, oviously in hope of getting on a main list which begs the question has been inform by anther club they will take him?

I do not know whether St Kilda offered him a rookie place and he rejected it.
Should he fail to be taken, St Kilda can still pre-select him as a former NSW scholarship rookie (up to 1 December).
If he did turn down the offer of a rookie place in favour of the National Draft, the club could withdraw that offer.
If he fails to be taken at the National Draft and St Kilda does not pre-select him for the Rookie Draft any club can take him in the Pre-Season or Rookie Draft.
Should St Kilda rookie him he will not cost St Kilda a rookie place as clubs are allowed up to 3 former NSW scholarship rookie places in addition to other rookie places.
Rookie salaries do not count against the salary cap.
Rookie salaries and overheads are still paid for by the club and thus form part of the club's budget - they still cost money.

Duncan was never offered a rookie spot so had to put himself in the draft as it is part of the scholarship rules as i heard that he played injured all year and even though he played well had since had both his hips operated on and will be a much better footballer and if drafted or rookie by someone im sure that he will give them good value as this kid can play and the saints may still be interested in him.

Both hips operated on at 18, sounds like his body may have been destroyed before his career even begins.
