Brisbane it may well be - beggars cant be choosers

As much as I wish him well, it'd kill me to have him and X hit their straps up there and unleash the potential we'd waited so long to be fulfilled....

It has to be about money, the game time thing is also about money as it will diminish his chances of getting contract incentives if he plays less game time. I bet the Saints contract was heavily incentivised compared to the Pies. Can't blame him too much for leaving for money. I would.

My only issue is his naming of one club in trade week leaving us scraps for a bloke we have supported (and paid) very well throughout his career with us. Have some more respect for an orgnaisation that showed you nothing but.

I hope in order he plays for these clubs:

Freo
Richmond
Melbourne
Essendon

as it will impact us the least.

Why does it have to be about money. Why isnt it about him struggling for a game with us and choosing to go elsewhere.

I will ask you again plugger - if it's not about the mone, or money's not the issue - why has he put 500k on his head? THis is 200k above what the saints want to pay for him.

Im not plugger, but I would assume it is to cut other teams out of the party.

The 500k is weighted forward with the last year up to negotiation.

Yes but money has appeared to always been some sort of sticking point or issue. The pies mysteriously were purportedly prepared to pay him this exact amount from the outset.

I would say to try and put off a few clubs and if you believe what was written in the paper today he will only 75k in the 3rd year which means he is probably only getting just over 100k over the 3 years more than we offered him if you again believe the papers. No players is going to leave for money for that little amount even if to us it seems a lot. There is much more to it than simply saying its money.

Haven't read the papers today, however I thought he had put 2 years on his head at 500k per year?

Yes but a third year that is included may be as low as 75K. Who knows exactly if any of the figures quoted are right but that is what has been written so to me money isnt the main reason for leaving.

Course there's a lot more to it, why do you assume its 100K over our deal? For someone that doesn't like others making assumptions you sure make a lot.

if it's about game time and opportunities why not be happy for anyone with an early pick to draft him? At a stretch I could see him being upset at moving interstate but there is ample opportunity for game time at several bottom 4 sides from 2009. He did just play in a grand final!

Even Chris Judd, despite reportedly preferring the pies, chose the blues b/c he knew that a deal could more easily be done with them due to their low ladder position, hence stronger bargaining position.....

That ends up being the same as what the saints offered. Aillion over three years. So how is it about the money?

Game time, success, a little bit more cash, incinerated relationship with the coach and coaching staff.

Ill give it my best estimate:

30% - Game Time/Opportunity
15% - Success
15% - Cash
40% - Unworkable Relationship

Looks like a reasonable breakdown - From that analysis I would say he he chose the draft.

Its not one reason or another, its a collection of reasons. Weather the reasoning behind them are legitimate is up to Ball. IMO i believe relationships can be mended, and that he would get opportunity.

Either way I'm still pissed!

Or maybe 100k, 200k, 300k, 400k, 500k, who knows how much.
It's up for negotiation isn't it, according to the report.
And of course there wouldn't be any deal already in place for the third year with Collingwood.

BUT the first 2 years are for a million dollars combined, as much as the Saints offered him over 3 years.

Maybe he figures the third year doesn't matter because he may not play the third year?
Afterall, he will have already collected the million in the first 2 years.

Yep, agreed.

The only way the contract can go in up in $$$$.

Just became unworkable in the end. Like a failed marriage the parties concerned were too proud and or stubborn to compromise. At the end of the day (as Stan would say), maybe it's all for the best.

I would love to see him a Freo.

They will pay him whatever he demands.

All the game time he desires.

Able to ignore the team requirements and play the game the way he wants to.

They'll even offer him the captaincy after Pavlova.

Might like a premiership medal but he will have 30 pieces of silver as compensation.

Long way from Melbourne where he now has more enemies than friends.

An incompetently run club - just what he deserves.
