I just looked at the numbers and realised you are about nine times the time waster I am.
That's REALLY saying something.
Make sure you give young Lukey a kiss for me when you tuck him in with his Tigers teddy tonight.

I post more. You waste peoples time. Dont know Bally but if i happen to see him i will ask if I can tuck him in. doesnt worry me in the slightest he has left as he was overpaid for his ability. What i find very funny is that so many seem upset that in their words a overated player is leaving. seems like those posters should actually be happy or are they really upset with themselves because previously they had said he was star player and had great morals.Thinline wrote:I just looked at the numbers and realised you are about nine times the time waster I am.

Is it not the case that LB has to be taken at asking price?
Was it not the case that they took someone else?
Is the upshot that the kitty would now be running low?
There's probably another thread, right...

I don't think they've lodged their payment schedule yet, so they can 'engineer' some room if need be.Thinline wrote:Do you know the answer to the question?plugger66 wrote:I have changed my mind. The obvious way is to 'fiddle' with Jolly's contract so that his is light up front adn heavily back-ended when ball's would be light.
Jolly is also a client of Connors so if there was a dsicussion between Collingwood adn Jolly/Ball he would be acting for both of those parties.

Plugger I can't speak for other posters, but at least your question got me thinking why I'm annoyed at Luke Ball. I reckon it's because we DID pay him so much and got so little in return from him - mainly in the last 4 years of his career. Then when his over inflated contract runs out, he decides to cut and run, rather than stay and prove his worth.plugger66 wrote:I post more. You waste peoples time. I was thinking if Riewoldt had left the club at the end of next year and went to the Gold Coast how I would feel. In my opinion (as I said I can't speak for other posters, although I reckon most would feel the same) most would feel that Rooey had given us great service since being at the club, and despite being the highest paid player on our list, real value for money. Here's a bloke that has genuinely given his all for the saints, and then moved on when the time was right.

I remember Kosi coming out of contract and saying that he owed the club because he'd had so many injuries. Shame Ball couldn't have felt the same way. You only get one chance to be a one club player.Moods wrote:Plugger I can't speak for other posters, but at least your question got me thinking why I'm annoyed at Luke Ball. Opinions are like arseholes, everybody's got one.
Firstly there is only one party at fault when you pay someone to much money and that is the club. As for owing the club I sort of agree with that but i really do think, and I have said it many times, that Bally might actually think that he would struggle to get a game next year. he struggled this year and we have since recruited 2 mids and we have Steven and Armo coming on and no other mid is going to get worse next season due to age or anything like that.Moods wrote:Plugger I can't speak for other posters, but at least your question got me thinking why I'm annoyed at Luke Ball. Melbourne would be doing a disservice to their club if they didn't pick up Ball.
They have to go full steam at him....Play at Melbourne, not don't play at all.
Its the draft, not a preference system.
But saying that, Melbourne seem like a weak club at the minute, and he'll probably go to Collingwood......

yes ATM Melbourne is weak, but Ball is only 25 and really, I saw Melbourne live three times last season and they weren't the rabble of the usual woodenspooner.Spinner wrote:Melbourne would be doing a disservice to their club if they didn't pick up Ball.

Melbourne could well be playing in finals by 2011.
or does Ball just wanted it all handed to him? You know, not work too hard and just waltz into the finals with a team like Collingwood who gets the dream draw every year.
The more I think of it the more I am convinced that Ball is suited to the Collingwood mentality.
Lance or James??
There comes a point in every man's life when he has to say, "Enough is enough." For me, that time is now. I have been dealing with claims that I cheated and had an unfair advantage in <redacted>. Over the past three years, I have been subjected to a <redacted>investigation followed by <redacted> witch hunt. The toll this has taken on my family, and my work for <redacted>and on me leads me to where I am today – finished with this nonsense. (Oops just got a spontaneous errection <unredacted>)

So Richmond have stated they don't want him. And Luke has said he won't go anywhere for less than $500,000, so it was about the money afterall. Can Collingwood fit him in their salary cap? Or will he get stuck with going to Melb which he also doesn't want to do.
Or will he fall on his face and end up with no one, as he is so picky!!

I don't agree that we would offer player a 3 year contract, who would struggle to get a game over that period of time.plugger66 wrote:Firstly there is only one party at fault when you pay someone to much money and that is the club. I cannot see the club agreeing to an allocation of funds and resources with little or no return for a period of 3 years, not to mention showing sentiment which is very unlike Ross.
It came down to $ and a role he understood, but did not enjoy...
Are you sure. Leigh Fisher, Brad Howard and Mini 2 years ago come to mind to say that arguement may not be right.SainterK wrote:I don't agree that we would offer player a 3 year contract, who would struggle to get a game over that period of time.plugger66 wrote:Firstly there is only one party at fault when you pay someone to much money and that is the club. Is the money and age comparable though, Mini would have only been 19 at the time and hardly commanding alot of money...plugger66 wrote:Are you sure. Howard is a rookie, younger again, so once again not comparable in price and resources?
I think Goose would be a better example of how the club would approach Luke Ball if they thought he was not going to play much in the seniors?

I don't necessarily agree that there is only one party at fault when it comes to contract negotiations. Ball would have asked for this money - ANY club would have paid him this money at this point in his career - Ball knew that. The club would have been crucified if he had been let go when he was 21 years old. REminds me of Darren Gasper at Richmond. Every time his contract was up it always seemed to be a stalemate with Gasper exclaiming that he loved the club, would do anything for the club, wanted to stay at the club, but insisted on being in the top 3 highest paid players at the club. Was a serviceable defender at best who had one maybe two great years which he hung his hat on forever.plugger66 wrote:Firstly there is only one party at fault when you pay someone to much money and that is the club. I agree with you that Ball believed that he may struggle to get a game next year. I can see this angle from his point of view. With Ball maximising his earning potential at every turn though, I certainly don't begrudge those posters who feel like teeing off at him on here.
I still remember a young Luke Ball on TFS telling Eddie he would be very disappointed in Dal if he chose to leave for higher money for the bombers back in 2005. I know circumstances are slightly different here re Ball's game time, but if money isn't oneof the main issues here, why has he put $500k on his head.
