Curious about Ball and Maguire

Post: # 858461Post ace »

I just checked out the StKilda list at
http://www.saints.com.au/players/tabid/ ... fault.aspx

The club has deleted Leigh Fisher from the senior table and Brad Howard from the rookie table.

However Luke Ball and Matt Maguire still remain on the senior table.

Tommy Walsh has yet to be added to the rookie table.
But news is, he and David Moran left Ireland bound for Melbourne last Wednesday.
That means they should have arrived Thursday night or Friday morning.
Facebook claims Tommy was running laps at the Moorabbin ground on Friday.
Probably shopping for an air conditioner today.

Interesting.

Ive been checking that out lately to see if our single digit numbers have been utilised.....

3, 4, 6 & 8 How exciting!!! Just use them all - none of this unrealistic 'worthiness' that some people demand.

Some people want to wait until they are certain we have the next plugger before handing over number four, for example.

Newsflash - Once players make it they usually keep their number, ie Dal Santo

My Hopes:
3 - Steven
4 - Geary
6 - Dawson
8 - Lynch

Bring it ON!!!!

I hope they get those numbers.
But not by being gifted them now, instead earning them the hard way.

Nathan Burke handed his number on to Xavier Clarke based on promise.

Instead all we got was a hamstrung player sitting in the stands.

Yep. Like this idea too!!!!

I wonder if the likes of Geary and Zac are looking for a lower number or if they are happy with what they have.

As far as I am concerned 4 belongs to the Doc, not to Plugger. Plugger wore 14 when he won the Brownlow, then he was given 4. Had he stayed at the club for the rest of his career he would most likely had made 4 his own, but he wore 14 for the most successful and exciting part of his career with the Saints. Now that Luke Ball has done the same thing, 14 must be Pluggers.

Jack Steven would look good in Ross Smith's and Burkey's old number, but I would maybe give 4 to a forward, and someone special. After next season.

Agree wholeheartedly, 4 is the Doc and 14 is Plugger. Jimmy O'Dea was also 14.

Yes, time to see number 8 in the forward line. Giving it to Lynchy

Mixing the players up, example 8 going from defence to the forwardline relieves a lot of pressure and expectation. Allowing the player to attempt to 'make it his own'!

Give 4 to Tommy Walsh.

Just to make sure that he's under no pressure to perform :P

Can we burn number 14 never to be used again.
It seems that it turns players into greedy traitors.

could be related to something I found early on in the Luke saga- as long as their on the list they are 'covered' so to speak for pay/ or wages etc
they will continue to get an allowance- - good faith by the club to the players
If a contract between a Club and a Player expires on 31 October in any
year, the Player shall remain registered as a Player of and be bound to
the Club until the conclusion of the National Draft Selection Meetin
g in
the relevant year. This Rule does not apply if the Club deletes the
Player’s name from its List during the period 31 October until the time
and day when the de-listed Player is able to nominate for the National
Draft Selection Meeting under Rule 4.4.3.
2.8.3 Allowance
If a Player remains bound to a Club by reason of Rule 2.8.2, the Club
must pay to the Player an allowance i
n the amount determined from
time to time by the AFL and AFLPA.

NO- as long as they leave his name 'On the list" he gets the allowance till the end of the National Draft meeting"
is how I read it....
same applies for both.

But Luke and Matt have both BEEN officially delisted during that period.
They simply remain on a table on St Kilda FC's website.
