And Sharrod Wellingham is a spud.
Have a look at Collingwoods first dp #30. They NEVER HAD dp 25 TO TRADE.
And Wellingham is a spud and is s.hit and we dont need any more s.hit spuds clogging our list.
We wanted Everitt who is a much better player than the s.hitful spud Wellingham but Collingwood wouldn't try to get at least #21 so NO FARKING DEAL.
Are you a bit simple?
although in actual fact wellingham woul dhave gone to north then pick 25 to saints and ball to pies.
However north did not want to do that deal, so it broke down. Nothing to do with the saints

IIRC, we didn't want that deal, becasue WB stated they wanted a pick in the first 22 for Everitt.HarveysDeciple wrote:Thats what st.kilda and collingwood wanted. and both would have agreed,Saints94 wrote:They were going to trade with N.M for pick 25 then on trade it to us for Luke Ball.joffaboy wrote:Who were they going to deal with at 1.00 pm for #26 (not 25 btw)?Saints94 wrote:Yeah they did they were going to get pick 25 from whoever it was, trade that and Sharrod Wellingham for Luke Ball, If was a young star on the up then no deal but he aint gonna get any better.joffaboy wrote:Oh FFS. NM also had pick 21 asn Collingwood initially asked for that pick for Wellingham, wich NM declined. Had they accepted that (mad if they did) then Ball would be at Collingwood and Everitt would be at St Kilda.
But to blame all of this on us - sheesh!

The filth will have to use 500k of their salary cap now. So a Visy type arrangement is out the door.plugger66 wrote:
Even if they get the player for nothing. Principles are nice but pick 25 would ne nicer especially if the pies still get him.
malthouse said they would not trade a good player, so they were out to screw us. I'm glad we didn't bend over.
How did mcguire & malthouse describe nick davis when he wanted to "further his career" elsewhere? I think that the expression was "f****** traitor"!
Well looks like they're after another one.
*Allegedly.

I personally think some people are trying to find reasons to point the finger at the club, maybe it makes them feel better about a favourite son wanting to leave?
The deal offered, as far as OUR club was concerned, was not fair or equitable.
However, because it's Luke Ball, the club must be to blame because he is a really nice person?
I was happy to hear Francis Leach report the story along the lines of "Luke Ball walking out on the Saints" as that is the cold reality of the situation after all.

Opted to leave and walked out are the same thing - just depends on how hyped the reporter is.
Fact is, I trust the judgement of Lyon and list management to make the right decision in trade week - we would all like to snag great trades but not easy and you don't give top 4 teams first 22 players for frig all! That is the beauty of the draft for equalisation.

Why? They're both no longer up to it. Cut your loses and move on, grass is greener, etc, etc.luke ball and matty maquire gone and nothing to show for them , i'm dissapointed to say the least , could have been handled better imo
Pretty average topic really I mean who cares, we should have got 3 goats and a belly dancer for the old FJ.
I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.

IMO you should have pushed for 1 goat and 3 belly dancers. Better fun value.PJ wrote:Why? They're both no longer up to it. It appears from his meeting with last meeting with Ross Lyon that Ball was up against it in getting a game. Seems like Ross is hell bent in getting exactly what he wants. "St Kilda said it was disappointed with Ball's decision, but in effect it forced his hand by painting a less than rosy picture of his prospects at the club." - http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/d ... 5796240877. Maybe he needs to be cut a bit of slack.
Another opportunity awaits!

Maybe they will both appear on Millionaire Hot Seat or Australian Apprentice 2010Armoooo wrote:Obviously nobody wanted Maguire...
As for Ball, the best Collingwood could offer was pick 25, had it been pick 21 we would have done the deal... simple as that.
The club has handled it self fantastically IMO, sure we have lost a few good players but we weren't bullied by the bigger boys, it is a sign of strength and the players we lost are expendable...

So because Ball was informed where his current form placed him in the "pecking order" of St kilda mids (he wouldnt be comparing him to Roo) and also because Ball was given several areas in whcih to improve - he clearly fins that to hard/distressing and walks?........and should be cut slack?Moccha wrote:It appears from his meeting with last meeting with Ross Lyon that Ball was up against it in getting a game. Seriously, Ralph as a reporter is very ordinary but he also use the line "sources close to Ball said" in this articel - READ Ball's Manager Connors....and you get the feel there maybe a little bit of damage control in this...
Luke went for some cash make no bones he aint mother Theresa - no probs with that - but why not just say it? why the constant efforts to paint St Kilda/Ross Lyon as the bad guys for daring to ask Luke Ball to step up to the plate and add another dimension to his game?
You cant help but feel, once again, this is all a case of Luke and his mum...not liking the cold hard truth Lyon was supposed to have delivered.
Would like to hear the clubs true version - never will - but would love to as I also found the club statement bizarre announcing they had "acted appropriately" in the dealings......which shoudl be the norm should it not?.....so why say it?.....unless you felt not all parties were...

Over the last year I have become more and more disinterested with Ralph as a journalist. Aside from the Ball issue, maybe due to his increased work on radio.Teflon wrote:So because Ball was informed where his current form placed him in the "pecking order" of St kilda mids (he wouldnt be comparing him to Roo) and also because Ball was given several areas in whcih to improve - he clearly fins that to hard/distressing and walks?........and should be cut slack?Moccha wrote:It appears from his meeting with last meeting with Ross Lyon that Ball was up against it in getting a game. I just dont agree with his viewpoint more often than not.
That article is written to depict a certain argument, its intentions are clear, whether accurate is another story.

How????gosainters66 wrote:luke ball and matty maquire gone and nothing to show for them , i'm dissapointed to say the least , could have been handled better imo
Goose is clearly not the player he was and was not going force his way back into our defence.
Sam. Gilbert and Zac are all better options. Another club short of key defendrs may usea low pick o him asa gamble....like we did with Zac last year. It may or may not work for them. Irrespective he was not going to get back into our 22.
Ball had become borderline in our best 22 and is not the player he was.
He YES was worth somethen. HOWEVER that other clubs were not desperate for him staed alot about his reduced value. Ina week draft pick 30 was probably too low....but pick 20 too high...making it hard to doa deal for him.
Ball for Everitt would have been good for us....but with the Pies seeing Jolly as their first priority (and quite rightly too) Ball to the Pies was always going to be tough.
Flying the World in comfort thanks to FF Points....
That article is interesting...
Well what would you prefer Ball? Leave the saints because you are upset you dont get much time and then possibly sit out for the whole year? hahah
Melbourne have no good players and have heaps in their cap, so i can only see him getting to the Demons
He will not make it to the pies
I am sure the pies were willing to trade pick 30 and Wellingham for pick 26, it wasnt just Wellingham for pick 26.
I know it is done now, but all i hope is he doesnt go to the Pies, i hate it how arrogant their supporters are getting saying that all players want to play for their team....

It is a load of bullcrap that we have nothing to show by losing Ball and Maguire because what we have now is SALARY CAP SPACE which we can use later on down the line
The fact that we have ready made replacements for Ball ready to step up we could very well win next years premiership with magic salary cap space up our sleave to improve our list even further - how good would that be
There was nothing that Collingwood was offering us that would have improved our side - what they were offering would have only taken up salary cap space for no gain

We beleive in the paper all the figures that have been bandied around and anything else that m kes Bally out to be a prick but when someone writes that Bally accually may have wanted to have stayed but realised he may struggle to get a game we dont beleive it because it doesnt suit our arguement that Ball is a prick.
I will go so far to say as I have from day one that Bally wanted to leave for the exact reason that was written in the paper. He will struggle to get a game because of the way he plays and the way we play. They do not suit each other due to Ball's football ability these days.
But he isnt our player anymore so he has no morals, no ability and wants to much money even if it was written that he wanted to stay.

Why did Ball and his manager feel the need to denigrate the Club in the way theu did.
Why not just tell the truth - I'm leaving for a better opportunity?
It's not the leaving that is my issue - it's the disrespectful comments made on his behalf that are.

Ball was overapid by the previous regime....and now that he is alesser player was grossly overpaid.
Ball may be doing "an Ackland"...striking while a club is still willing to pay him more than he is worth.
No doubt he isa lot better than Sugar still and will play a goodly number of games with his new club.
Whereas at the Saints he would have had to compete hard to warm the pine...and he did not appear willing to do this.
