Ball to nominate for draft today according to The Age
Moderators: Saintsational Administrators, Saintsational Moderators
So can someone tell me...
Why did he front the press in the weeks leading up to the GF saying this year was the kick up the bum he needed and have us believe he was going to work harder?
Why did he face the media immediately after the loss, talking on behalf of players he did not want to play with anymore?
Why did he speak at the fan day the day after the GF?
I didn't want his empty words, I'd rather silence

According to the Age article today he was told that by Ross Lyon a few weeks ago. So if you want to stick by him still good on you, but please don't have a go at others who are extremely dissapointed with the decision HE made.
Probably not but was Bally told that to his face.

On the topic of Luke Ball (as per other thread):
We don't know all the facts but it is clear that Luke Ball wanted to leave the Saints right from the start. It is clear that the Saints were going to protect their list right from the start.
My personal opinion is that while I am disappointed that they could not come to a resolution, I am not really disappointed that he has gone. We need to have players committed to the cause and within our own list, I believe there are players that will fill his role with honour, commitment and ability.
Good luck, Luke, but IMHO you and/or your management and/or your family have made a big mistake and you may be watching your old club running aroung the G next year with a cup in their hands. Maybe you can celebrate your 3 votes in Round 22 while you watch the Finals Series on TV. Is that what you wanted?

Oh well piss off then Luke, I am more concrened with St.Kilda players than some GOP who plays with some opposition team.
Shows true character. Only player i can think off that has trashed the Saints in public worse than Ball is Spida Everitt.
gets taken by the pies.

Correct me if I am wrong, but haven't other teams like North, Essendon and Brisbane have picks before Collingwood?desertsaint wrote:perhaps the price tag (along with snubbing melbourne) is to ensure hejoffaboy wrote:Wasn't it reported that he put a $500k price tag on his head in the Age today?plugger66 wrote:[

You won't convince me that a snubbing will put off the likes of a Michael Voss, thick skinned that one!

You would hope Bailey takes the opinion of.... "Luke can play football for Melbourne, or not at all"....and take him with pick 18 (if still available)
Clearly, If Luke nominates for the National its an attempt to go elsewhere than Melbourne.
Players entering the draft do not and should not have a say where they go. Its a draft.
Hope Melbourne have or find the character to take this stance.

Many people have many opinions. Noe of you know the real facts and neither do I
The facts i do knoew are
1- the club said they wanted him but at told him he was worth less than what he was previously getting.
2- he said he wanted out and the club said they were not getting compensated enough. So they took nothing.
3- The club only plyed him for less than half a game he was starring in"(the GF) so obviously did not think too highly of him, which although we will never know I feel could have made a difference
4- People say he owes the club. We are told collingwood was going to trade and give pick 25 for him and that st kilda was happy with pick 22 (to on trade) . Those 3 picks mean we got nothing.
5- He owes the club. Bull Ask moose Mcguire if he thinks he should have taken the monies he was offered elsewhere previously instead of being loyal to the saints. Facts are these players are wanted when it suits the club but not when it doesnt. So they owe the club nothing.
Ask bradshaw about loyalty fro ma club.
Get series people. This is a business and your time in AFL football can be very short so why would you not look at offers and take this into account.
Which one of you would not move from your line of work for an extra 200 k or more per year

Nope. He didn't. But his behaviour since GF day has been that of someone with an overinflated opinion of his own value. He's shown us zero loyalty and he gets zero loyalty from me in return. Not that he'd give a stuff but that's how I feel about it.MCG-Unit wrote:Wow what a tough hombre you are - yep he certainly played like a princess didn't hest.byron wrote:Good riddance you little prick. yes that is a fact
in 20/20 hindsight yes.mals saints wrote:2- he said he wanted out and the club said they were not getting compensated enough. So they took nothing.
that is only opinions. 1 that he was "starring" - 2 that the club didn't think too highly of him (you reckon you know the facts, how was LB's fitness in the second half. Also if the club didn't think too highly of him - why start him in the middle on GF day? Why start him in a GF at all???)mals saints wrote:3- The club only plyed him for less than half a game he was starring in"(the GF) so obviously did not think too highly of him, which although we will never know I feel could have made a difference
You "feel" he could have made a difference? May be a fact that you feel it - but you have no idea that he would have. I "feel" that if we had have kicked straight we would have won - so what?
Stiff. Collingwood wouldn't trade equitably and fairly. Would rather get nothing than trade with those bunch of filth fairies.mals saints wrote:4- People say he owes the club. More "facts". And us Saints supporters know him as GOOSE Maguire, not Moose McGuire as in your President.mals saints wrote:5- He owes the club. More facts? Maybe when your manager has used about five excuses in five days for leaving - one of them being that it WASN't for Money.
Back to your Collingwood fansite - troll
Lance or James??

1.which is true, he WAS not worth the ridiculous amount he was getting paid for his performance.
2. which is fair enough, the clubed wanted to do whats best for it not for luke. the club is always bigger than the individual and thats that..
3.he was getting around 50% game time throughout the whole year...just because he was playing better this game means squat all...plus we have the best fitness people around...you do the maths
4.the club owes luke nothing...and luke owes the club nothing...move on
5.i don't think it was all about the money. it was about how much game time he was getting which he wasn't happy about..and if he could get a better deal then by all means go ahead...its just the way he handled it was poor by only nominating one club and putting us in a s*** position to bargain for...
all in all good luck and good bye...however he wont be getting any cheers or claps for me...

There is only one set of facts that matter:
Ball is no longer a Saint. He is an aint.
He has chosen to be that way.
Logic does not matter....or play a role. You do not become a football fan by being 100% logical.
It is a matter of the heart.
All that is relevant now is that Ball is now part of the opposition.
Does not matter what he did this year or last...in 2010 he is the opposition.

Joffaboy. With a name like that maybe your are the pres of collingwood cheer squad. Not a saint royalty.
We all are allowed an opinion but you have shown your class.
You were quiock to throw s*** about a typing error but didnt answer my point about moose( sorry Goose) and how he should feel about being loyal to the club
Some people use these things for self gratification and I agree that he is now an opposition player but I has been handled poorly and I believe people shouldne bladme LB>
Was it not RL who said grand final night that if you dont want to do the hard yards get out.
Well ball asked to get out and now people are prepared to give him s*** . I agree when you follow a team you do not look rationally. This is certainly happening here but smoe open that one eye a little more than others

No great loss - he has been on the fringe for the last few years and his impact has been minimal
Losing him will only make way for a younger body and will only improve our side
Thanks Luke for your time and I hope you find the mediocrity you crave at a club willing to pay you over the odds

Wow does Luke really read this?Hope you do well at your new club Bally but the club is bigger than any player. It sounds like there will be a few booing you now and it seems that you were never a better player or person than Judd or Hodge even though I could swear I read you were 6 months ago. Luckily a few on here seem to know exactly what happened between you and the club and also seem to know what you were offerred money wise or is it just the case that when it suits a discussion we just beleive what is written in the paper.
All the best Bally and like all Saints players that leave our club I hope you do really well just not against us.
I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.
