Our home games against Collingfilth, Dorks and Bummers....
Should all be changed to the MCG. Playing only 2 games at the "G" is ridiculous. Playing the above 3 games at the "G" is a no brainer IMHO. Apart from more playing time at the home of footy, it will be a cash bonus as well.
Form and weather permitting, the attendances would be....
Against Pies 70,000+
Against Hawks 55,000
Against Bombers 60,000+

10 Home games. The Geelong game is OUR HOME GAME at the Gsaintspremiers wrote:Umm, how about some of 3 away games at Jihad being switched to the MCG?
We prob have a contract to play 11 home games at Jihad - otherwise we would've played Geelong twice at the MCG.
NEW scarf signature (hopefully with correct spelling) will be here as soon as it arrives !!
no contract anymore...the original contract as amended expired...which somehow means that collins and the afl can screw us over....

Isn't the AFL the "Middle Man" now, meaning we get a better deal from 2010 onwards? !!stinger wrote:no contract anymore...the original contract as amended expired...which somehow means that collins can screw us over....

i like playing the pies at etihad, we get a lot more supporters there with all that reserved seating on the wing. if we were to play a home game against them at the G out of the 60,000 that would be there i think its fair to say only 20,000 would be saints, for some reason we get very little support at the G.
i really would of liked 5 games there, 1 pies, 1 cats, 1 hawks, 1 blues, 1 tigers.

I would have liked a few more games at the G but we're hardly being screwed playing 14 games at a venue that we play so well.
I suppose the ideal situation would have been getting a few of those away games at ES played at the G like Dooley has suggested, bearing in mind how much the reserved seat holders whinged when there was talk of moving the Geelong game earlier in the year.
All in all I think we've got a pretty good draw in terms of the teams we play once and from a financial standpoint the club is going to do very well.
Obviously a few more games at the G and a few less 6 day breaks would have been nice but that's the by-product of playing so many Friday night games. They tend to not schedule as many of those at the G during winter and when you play on a friday night you're pretty much resigned to having a 6 day break beforehand.

Essendon have THREE interstate games and I sure as hell wouldn't swap our draw with theirs.stinger wrote:sainter35 wrote:I would have liked a few more games at the G but we're hardly being screwed playing 14 games at a venue that we play so well.

We've got Richmond, Fremantle, Port Adelaide, North Melbourne and Essendon twice. That's a great result.
Sure, being a team that doesn't sell home games interstate I think we're entitled to a season of 4 or 5 interstate games for a change but overall we've been given a very good draw and should have no excuses.
We don't always have to play the victim.

The Hawks also have just 3 away interstate matches, if you discount their 4 home games in Tassie.sainter35 wrote:Essendon have THREE interstate games and I sure as hell wouldn't swap our draw with theirs.stinger wrote:sainter35 wrote:I would have liked a few more games at the G but we're hardly being screwed playing 14 games at a venue that we play so well.

A great result IMO is for the team that gets the most games in Melbourne!sainter35 wrote:Essendon have THREE interstate games and I sure as hell wouldn't swap our draw with theirs.stinger wrote:sainter35 wrote:I would have liked a few more games at the G but we're hardly being screwed playing 14 games at a venue that we play so well.

Spot on! Let's stop apeasing for mercy from the Footy Gods, because as a whole, we've had a gotten a good rub of the green in the previous two seasons.sainter35 wrote:Essendon have THREE interstate games and I sure as hell wouldn't swap our draw with theirs.stinger wrote:sainter35 wrote:I would have liked a few more games at the G but we're hardly being screwed playing 14 games at a venue that we play so well.

couple of thoughts...
we are not going to get more MCG games until our members actually turn up. Our turn up to 'G games is pathetic compared to the dome.
Second I would take the dons fixture over ours any old day. Remember that we only lost to two teams during the 22 rounds last year and only one sneaked into the finals (8th).
