Games at the MCG
Collingwood 14 (8H-6A)
Melbourne 14 (10H-4A)
Hawthorn 12 (7H-5A)
Richmond 12 (8H-4A)
Essendon 9 (4H-5A)
Carlton 8 (6H-2A)
Geelong 7 (3H-4A)
North Melbourne 3 (0H-3A)
Bulldogs 3 (0H-3A)
Adelaide 3 (0H-3A)
Sydney 3 (0H-3A)
West Coast 2 (0H-2A)
St Kilda 2 (1H-1A)
Port Adelaide 1 (0H-1A)
Brisbane 1 (0H-0A)
Fremantle 0 (0H-0A)
It would seem that despite Essendon and Carlton getting the best deals at Etihad, they have a second home at the MCG.
It would also seem that Geelong has 2 home grounds - Semi Skilled Stadium 7H (it is only half a stadium), MCG 3H, and not Etihad 1H.
It would seem these clubs have been given a better financial deal by the AFL as their home games have been scheduled for the MCG.
St Kilda has 10 home games scheduled for Etihad (10H-4A) and only one at the MCG (1H-1A)
Collingwood 14 (8H-6A)
Melbourne 14 (10H-4A)
Hawthorn 12 (7H-5A)
Richmond 12 (8H-4A)
Essendon 9 (4H-5A)
Carlton 8 (6H-2A)
Geelong 7 (3H-4A)
North Melbourne 3 (0H-3A)
Bulldogs 3 (0H-3A)
Adelaide 3 (0H-3A)
Sydney 3 (0H-3A)
West Coast 2 (0H-2A)
St Kilda 2 (1H-1A)
Port Adelaide 1 (0H-1A)
Brisbane 1 (0H-0A)
Fremantle 0 (0H-0A)

Mixed feelings about the draw, no where near enough MCG games - I thought we should have got a minimum of four - and round 22 at AAMI is terrible. Does the floating round thing have any bearing on the venue? Having an interstate game the week before the Qualifying final seems pretty stiff for a team that did as well as St Kilda this year...
Happy with the draw except for the MCG games. I agree we should have received at least one more there. No doubt the club would have requested more than 2. Having said that though, not a huge negative. We played 4 games at the 'G to see out 09 and a couple during the year will give us enough of a 'feel' for the ground for it not to negatively affect the '10 finals campaign.
Now let's wait and see how much air time the TV networks give us.

really not happy with just the 2 at the MCG.
i would of liked to play, coll and geelong what we already are, plus richmond, carlton and hawthorn

We probably had them until Melbourne threw their toys out of the cot and the AFL capitulated to their tantrum.
Note Melbourne as 2 more home games at the MCG than any of the other MCG tenants.

Negatives
4 of those stupid Twilight Zone games
6 = the MAXIMUM number of Interste trips (twice as many as Collingwood)
2 = number of MCG games (12 less than Collingwood)
By the laws of averages you should not have the maximum 6 interstate trips.
Just further proof that the draw is a farce, biaised, non-level, full of cosy little "arrangement" - mostly to suit Collingwood.

Negatives can be positives though...we don't want our draw to be to easy, the players need to be challenged.Enrico_Misso wrote:Negatives

I personally think Collingwood's easy draw does them no favours whatsoever, they haven't ever entered the finals series battled hardened....and it shows.

1) Collingwood plays four games outside Victoria, not three.Enrico_Misso wrote:Negatives

2) Collingwood's home ground is the MCG, not Etihad, so no f*cking sh*t that they play there a lot more than we do!
Anyone who think we have a bad draw needs to look a bit harder at the fixture.
- Only 10 of our games are against top 8 teams from 2009
- Four of our first five games are against teams that missed the finals
- We play Geelong once
- We play the Bulldogs once
Not to mention the increased share of Friday night games (= revenue).

Yes when we are not at Etihad we are interstate except the 2 at the MCG.Enrico_Misso wrote:Negatives

We had more games at Etihad in 2009 due to less interstate games.

Collingwood go interstate four times, not three.
Edit: just saw the typo in my original post.
Essendon has a dream travel draw (only going interstate three times), but they got absolutely reamed with the football draw!

To me the "fixture"is the worst thing about our great game. It has no credibility and is at best times unethical.
Certain clubs (ess and coll) don't travel interstate the same as other clubs EVERY year.
How can saints/cats only play once. Surely the public desreves two games given how great they were this year.
The fact the clubs are allowed to negotiate themselves games is not right. It would be ok if we played every team once or twice. But we don't and therefore unfair.
Make no mistake it is not a draw it is a "fixture".

Essendon were undeserving of being in the eight in 2009 and look to be big sliders in 2010.
Hawthorn given less injuries will replace them.
Realistically that means we only play the top 8 teams 9 times.
However in football you can't play with yourself!
There are 15 other teams that would rather not play St Kilda.
So make that top 7 teams 9 times and bottom 8 teams 13 times.
