All sponsors have first option on sponsoring the same player in the following season.SainterK wrote:Just curious, I'd love to know more about it...
Are certain players more popular, and more likely to be picked up by corporate sponsors?
Do we keep this in mind and target players who are perhaps not as likely to find sponsorship?
Does eveyone eventually get a sponsor, what happens if they don't?
Some players have a waiting list ofr sponsors - Riewoldt as an example)
Some players don't attract any sponsors at all.
Over the past 2 seasons we've tended to take on players who weren't sponsored the previous season. (Raph had no sponsor in 2008 adn McQualter didn't have a sponsor in 2009 until we tokk him)
But there is no set rule to this - consensus rules.

Everybody is welcome.
For those who haven't been involved before:-
The way it has worked in the past few years is that if we oversell the shares, we just take an additional player.
Each $15 share is for all the sponsored players - not just a particular player (this year, each share was to sponsor Raph, Steven, Mini, Heyne and Tungatalum)
Payments won't probably need to be made until February at the earliest.
Once we've allocated all the shares we do a 'prize draw' to 'divvy up' the 'spoils' that come along with the Sponsorships. We do this so that as many members of teh Sponsorship group get to 'win' something.
Prizes this season for each Sponsored Player were:-
2 tickets to the Season Launch function
2 tickets to Match Day Exoerience
1 piece Framed Memorabilia
2 Tickets to B&F night
Becasue we ended up sponsoring 5 players, we had 5 sets of prizes - 20 prizes in total.
If there are any other questions please don't hesitate to ask. Between SaintBrat, St Fid, Iceman234 and myself I'm sure we'll be able to answer anything re this.

Might I suggest that prior to confirming the sponsored players, a poll is taken as to whether the players pics above are shown by either (left to right)...
a) age
b) alphabetically
c) numerically by jumper number
d) time in position
to save the heartache last year of a young bloke doing a great job but being criticised for it...

The players we sponsor are aware of our sponsorship of them.sunsaint wrote:I'll go round again, but just a question I should have asked years ago,
Is Saintsational credited with the sponsorship?
Reason being it could be pretty embarrassing for "our" guy up the top left if he ever came here.
I actually think the point you are raising is more embarrasing for us.
On behalf of all the mods that were also lambasted, criticised and ridiculed duruing that little ordeal...I absolutely concur!!!Iceman234 wrote:Might I suggest that prior to confirming the sponsored players, a poll is taken as to whether the players pics above are shown by either (left to right)...

Latest information from the Club:-
I also asked for a list of players who were not sponsored during season 2009:-
So the costs (other than for Roo) have gone up by $300 per category, but have been offest by the addition of an extra prize - 2 tickets to teh new Hall of Fame Dinner.I will be sending out another update today with all of the inclusions/pricing, however I will list ift for you here as well. In 2010, the program will be fairly similar. See as follows:
- 2 tickets to Official 2010 St Kilda FC Season Launch, including a photo with your sponsored player
- 2 tickets to the 2010 St Kilda FC Hall of Fame dinner (new 2010)
- 2 tickets to the 2010 JELD-WEN Best And Fairest dinner
- Priority Access to purchase additional tickets to both Hall of Fame and Best and Fairest dinners
- 2 tickets to exclusive Player Sponsor's match-day event (is in seperate room this season, not in RHR)
- Signed framed memorabilia piece, which will include action shot of player & photograph taken at Season Launch
- Recognition of sponsorship on chosen player's locker at Linen House Oval
- Recognition of sponsorship on saints.com.au
Costs for each group will be as follows:
Captain (Nick Riewoldt) - $3000 inc. GST
Leadership - $2200 inc. GST (players will be advised in forthcoming email, similar to 2009)
Core - $1850
Development - $1350
The costs, with the exception of Nick, have been set along the same lines as last year but are increased due to the inclusion of the Hall of Fame dinner. Nick's cost has been set after some thorough research into other club's programs and what they get for their key player(s).
I also asked for a list of players who were not sponsored during season 2009:-
Once I know more information as to which players belong in which category, tehn we can discuss who we wish to sponsor. As far as players that were unsponsored in 2009, they were as follows:
Steven King Adam Schneider Sean Dempster Brad Howard Alistair Smith Paul Cahill Blake McGrath Steven Gaertner
