The "Breakdown" of where we play is;
11 HOME games at Etihad Stadium
2 AWAY games at Etihad Stadium
5 INTERSTATE games
4 AWAY games at the MCG
The next wave of leaks could provide an insight into WHEN we play. So far we are aware that we play Sydney up there on a Saturday Night and we play Geelong (away side) on a Friday Night.
An interesting side note from today's leaks is that Richmond appear to have been shafted !!

If we are to score a 6/10 for timeslots, it would look something like this;
5 x Friday Night Games (3 home games)
4 x Saturday Afternoon games
1 x Saturday Twilight game
5 x Saturday Night games
4 x Sunday Afternoon games
2 x Sunday Twilight games
1 x Monday Night game
And then it all depends on who we play, and where, and if it's home or away

four mcg games should help with any acclimatisation required. there's not one against richmond so that means we play all of these at the g:Eastern wrote:11 HOME games at Etihad Stadium

carlton
collingwood
hawthorn
melbourne
could be a couple of tough games there... good preparation for finals, hopefully.

Replace Carlton with Geelong (already leaked) and you should be on the money. I think Carlton & Essendon have ongoing requests to play St Kilda at Etihad Stadium (their home game) as part of their deals with Etihad !!

it won't be saints v collingwood at mcg round one thursday night, will it?
Don't think so, just read where Collingwood will play an away game against the Western Bulldogs in Rd 1.bergholt wrote:

Essendon and Geelong to apparently play the Friday night "blockbuster" in Round 1.

Round 1 appears to include
Richmond v Carlton
Essendon v Geelong
Sydney v St Kilda
Western Bulldogs v Collingwood
The other eight teams would make up the games, but with five non-Victorian teams in that lot, expect travel or a crappy attendance for your first game if you are Hawthorn, Melbourne or North Melbourne.
Since the inception of Port Adelaide, our first round games have been
1997 v Hawthorn
1998 v Geelong
1999 @ Brisbane
2000 v Sydney
2001 @ Western Bulldogs
2002 v Carlton
2003 @ North Melbourne
2004 v Geelong
2005 @ Brisbane
2006 @ West Coast
2007 @ Melbourne
2008 v Sydney
2009 v Sydney
Richmond v Carlton
Essendon v Geelong
Sydney v St Kilda
Western Bulldogs v Collingwood

i had a dream we are off to Subi or the Gabba round 1.
one of the most retarded dreams ive ever had but i was at the Gabba and over the PA system the man said 'welcome to the Gabba, round 1 of 2010 St. kilda vs West Coast'
....figure that one out

agree.True Blue Sainter wrote:IMO we should look to broker some sort of deal to play 2-3 home games a year @ the G.... Something like the Carlton arrangement.
i reckon try for 10 home games at Etihad, 1 home at the G (vs freo )...nah against carlton or a team that will bring the numbers in, then on top of that 5 interstate, 4 away at the G (collingwood, carlton, hawthorn, melbourne) and 2 away at Etihad (richmond and essendon)

Won't happen. We are lucky enough to get the away games, so just take it.
If we were in a position to get 2-3 home games at the G, do you think we would be in such a dire position with gate receipts?
The G didn't want us and at the dome we are just also rans behind Essendon and Carlton.

I think the problem with that is that we signed a NEW contract with Etihad Stadium in 2008 or 2009 to play all of our home games there, with the exception of that 1-off game on the GC this year. I don't know the duration of the contract !!True Blue Sainter wrote:IMO we should look to broker some sort of deal to play 2-3 home games a year @ the G.... Something like the Carlton arrangement.

Whats with the Sydney in round 1 for the 3 rd year running.Apart from may'be something a little bit different in 1 the break down of games in Melbourne sounds great.17 games between the Dome and the MCG is excellent.
Not that I worry too much about draws these days after we overcame any obstacles thrown at us last year.
In the end you win whereever...end of story!!

I would say it is set in concrete and they are doing what the government do with the budget, release it bit by bit to lessen the complaints.

Collingwod complains every year ... they say it is not their fault that Melbourne and Geelong clubs want to play their home games against the Magpies to earn gate receipts .. and they desperately want more interstate trips ... 3 a year just does not cut it ... they were wanting 6 or 7.
AwayInUSA no longer ... have based myself back in Melbourne for a decade of Saintsational Success (with regular trips back to the USA)

That is VERY different to the response to the 2009 FIXture where the club said " We will have to make the best of the hand we have been dealt" !!GeorgeYoung27 wrote:Dwayne (the pain) Russell mentioned tonight that he had spoken to St.Kilda today about the draw and they are quite happy with it (as it stands).
