Heres a bit of footage of him kicking an AFL football from when he was down for a look earlier. Its from a documentary filmed by an irish station following Ricky Nixons camp for young Irish players. Worth a look. Tommy is on about 5:40 into it.

His kicking action on the run is pretty good, and he can bounce the ball which is quite a hard skill to master for newbies. He is a hell of a lot better than Karmichael Hunt

How does this work? If they are coming out do we have first call on them? Or do we have to draft them with risk of them going to other clubs? And I assume they would both start as rookies.

By 1/12/09, we must nominate them on the International Rookie list for inclusion in the Rookie draft.

Meh, I'm not familiar with the ins and outs of it all, but we should definitely give him a shot.

He would be a great prospect if we get him, but I doubt he will
move to the AFL.

Seemed keen last year to sign up but due to circumstances couldn't, but not keen any more by the looks of it.

Anyone know when the saints have to decide by?

I actually think he is more keen this year but I don't think he is keen enough.

Walsh has signed apparantly.

THEY may be still savouring last monthâ€™s 36th All-Ireland football title, but Kerry have suffered an early blow for 2010 with confirmation that Tommy Walsh has agreed a preliminary agreement with AFL outfit St Kilda. His club and inter-county colleague David Moran has also been offered an early trial with the same club.

Walsh has decided to opt for a reputed two year rookie contract, worth $80,000 (â‚¬47,000) per year.

ST KILDA has completed a stunning hit and run raid on Ireland's best young gaelic player, Tommy Walsh, signing him late last night to a two-year rookie deal.

To the horror of the Gaelic Athletic Association and his county, Kerry, Saints list manager Matthew Drain flew from New York to Dublin overnight Sunday to sign Walsh, the winner of the 2008 Young Player of the Year.

"He is the best credentialed player to come out of Ireland.

The Saints will try to fast-track Walsh's development with the view to playing him beside skipper Nick Riewoldt and Justin Koschitzke next year.
