Saints WANT Ball-latest info?

Aye I concur, if st kilda can negotiate without Connors that would be great.
Also if he is with Roo, lenny et al, maybe they can sway him to stay.
Love it if he does.
and on a very very petty note, shove it up the Collingwood filth on BF.
am taunting KisStephanie now on BF

Back to the Original Topic;
All the media hype that several saints players were going to catch up with Luke Ball in New York is just that, MEDIA HYPE. May I suggest that the saints players, INCLUDING LUKE BALL made plans to travel to USA (New York) quite some time ago (well before the end of the season). Luke's plans may have been thrown around a bit because of the Trade Week thingy, but my guess is that they ALL planned to meet up anyway. It wouldn't surprise me either if the two St Kilda officials who were reported to have travelled to New York to talk to Luke were already part of the holiday group too.
I see this as no more than the media TWISTING THE FACTS to make a story !!

I also hope he stays - no one should be under any delusions that he would not be a useful player in 2010. He should have been on the park in the last 10mins of the season - it MAY have made a difference as it did in round 14.
This is a team game and there is no room for individuals who think they are above walking through the fire.

Luke Ball could become the success story of 2010, similar to Steve Johnson.
The player that for certain reasons went off the boil in 2009 but came back, knuckled down and played a major role in St Kilda's first premiership since 1966.
I wonder if he understands the significance of playing for a club that has not won a bag of flags. In this era of massive media coverage, he could set himself up for life with one great year for us. Imagine if the 1966 team played in the era of media coverage that we have now.
He is a smart guy. He must know that. Or at least his manager and family should be telling him that. Maybe some sacrifice now but a lifetime of reward.

^ I hope so too!!
More updates on the local saga...doesn't tell us anything we didn't already know. Until either the club or Luke rule it out, then it is still a possibility that he may stay - an outcome that most of us secretly(or not so secretly) are hoping for.

I dont want him to stay at St Kilda
The disloyalty and disrespect he showed the club, players and supporters was an utter disgrace IMHO
Melbourne can bloody well have him

I said all along I hope he stays, regardless of some of the vocal piss-poor opinions some people have displayed on here about him. If he was no good he wouldn't have played in the GF and would have been traded out by now. Clearly the club values him and wouldn't take a "hack" as a replacement.
Personally this article gave nothing away. All typical media speculation.

True, they just keeping rehashing the same stories. The don't know anything really. The only info in this article that I didn't already know was that it is Drain who is over there, rather than previous mentions of "st kilda officials". I think the fact that it is Drain (list manager) over there, makes it more likely that they may have some meaningful discussions.St. Luke wrote:I said all along I hope he stays, regardless of some of the vocal piss-poor opinions some people have displayed on here about him. No Contract, No contact
I agree. Some of the things said about Ball by supposed fans has been really disgraceful. Still I think he was given the wrong advice and the club isn't completely to blame.St. Luke wrote:I said all along I hope he stays, regardless of some of the vocal piss-poor opinions some people have displayed on here about him. If he decides to play for the Saints, I will fully support him as I do any Saitns player.
Lance or James??

List lodgement No1 is due in 2 weeks.
The players go through pre-season training, the pre season games, the home and away games then the finals.
They take their holidays at this time because this is the only time they don't have to work.
After the finals are complete list managers have to work their hardest - player delistings and announcements, trade period, 3 list lodgements, national, pre-season and rookie drafts.
Not to mention making payment adjustments to ensure the season just played does not exceed the salary cap and estimating the salary cap for next year required before and to enter the pre-season draft.
A list manager's holiday window comes after the rookie draft is over and not before.
Why would a list manager go to New York, because he is the guy who does the planning of the salary cap.
He knows how much the club has left to spend on players over the next few years and how much can be spent on an individual.
He is the contracts specialist.

^Agreed. That was the reason I posted the article. While its mostly a rehash of previous info, the mention of Drain rather than other Saints officials is very interesting. There is no way he is on holidays for all of the reasons you mentioned. He has one purpose there. They are definately going to try to talk him into staying. Would love to be a fly on the wall in those discussions. Whether he stays or not, they need to find out asap as it will effect our salary cap etc and whether we pick up someone in the PSD etc.

I certainly hope that Mr Riewoldt and Mr Hayes are also present at said discussions!! Come on Luke, show some gumption and commit to becoming a part of a premiership team.saintnick12 wrote:^Agreed. I want to stand for something. I'm a loyal person and I think at the end of my career it will be great to look back and know that I'm a St Kilda person for life.

I am a luke ball fan, and hope he has a future in footy (injuries have cruelled what could have been a brilliant career) but....
Doesn't this go against the grain for what Ross & Roo said post grand final loss???
It was something like anyone who is not in this 100% needs to leave...
I'm not listening to rumour or inuendo, but the main fact is that he requested a trade. That to me is not someone 100% in.

Sure - he needs to make the commitment - but no one could suggest that LB does not give 110% when on the ground - including - or perhaps especially in the GF.
This is why we do not want to see him in other colours!

The fact that he, and the people around him, don't realise that he can, or maybe, could have been something really significant at this club.
He is an educated guy. Couldn't or can't he see that he can put himself in the annals of AFL history.
Wake up Luke

.The Saints swooped last night, which was part of a frenetic four-day round-the-world odyssey for Drain.
Drain flew out of Melbourne Friday lunch-time, arrived in New York on Friday night, left New York for Dublin on Sunday night, arrived in Dublin yesterday and will fly back to New York tonight in anticipation of talking to Luke Ball, who is on holiday, about his future.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Drain, meanwhile, is set to seek out Ball in New York on his return tomorrow in the States.
"We'll try to work through things over the next few weeks," Drain said
first direct info on Luke ( crossing fingers...) as long as he can be happy with us-
