Miles ran the fastest sprint time ever recorded at a state screening and has outstanding agility and vertical leap. He won a B+F playing for a GF team in the WAFL. He was on the verge of AFL selection a couple of times this year. He's got an awful lot going for him. It's a shame people just look at his age and assume he's gone. I'm not sure how Simpkin has more going for him. He's taller and younger. Anything else?borderbarry wrote:Simpkin appears to have more going for him than Miles.
Yeah nah pleasing positive

miles is quick and all but whenever I've seen him play for sandy he doesn't seem to use his pace effectively. looked promising in the wiz cup a year or two ago but doesn't seem to have progressed.
Simpkin on the other hand looks very handy, seen him play on bigger stronger players and beat them hands down one on one. just looks like a smart and level headed player. reckon he will be a very good defender for the saints.

No Blake McGrath can remain one more year as a "former NSW scholarship holder rookie".borderbarry wrote:I imagine Blake McGrath will go onto the normal rookie list now that he has had his NSW rookie season. And we will probably take two new NSW rookies. Plus room has to be made for the two Irish boys. So there will be a fair bit of movement in our rookie list.
A club is allowed up to 3 of this special category.
Khan Haretuku has completed his 2 year stint in this category.
Josh Duncan and Ted Widner can move into it.
We are then allowed 6 ordinary rookies.
Any Irish would be included as ordinary rookies but able to stay ordinary rookies for 3 years before facing the AFL draft.
Luke Miles and Zac Dawson both must be permanently promoted to the senior list or go into the national draft, they can no longer be rookied due to age.
Khan Haretuku has to face the national draft now that his 2 years are up before he can be preselected as an ordinary rookie for only one more year.
Steve Gaertner, Sam McGarry, Ross Tungatalum, Tom Simpkin can be retained as rookies for one more year before facing the national draft.
I think Brad Howard can be retained as a rookie for one more year before facing the national draft again but I suspect he will be viewed as a list clogger.
Note: St Kilda had 7 ordinary rookies, 1 being a nominated rookie in 2009 because we were one veteran player short of a full primary list.
Hayes and Baker will give St Kilda a full veteran list and primary list for 2010.

(last year he was told to be patient as it more a long term prospect then a quick jump into the seniors .. )... aparently SOS is a big Fan of Miles so ?!?!?!

I think you are referring to the St Kilda club website.Beno88 wrote:According to the AFL website, Miles and Dawson have already been promoted.
Miles and Dawson were temporarily promoted to the senior list in place of long term injured players.
Their permanent promotion will be as a result of List Lodgement No 1 due on 30 October.
Clubs are making all sorts of announcements about retirements and delistings but they don't become official in the eyes of the AFL until List Lodgement No 1.

Those links are to the St Kilda FC Website.
They do not distinguish between temporarily promoted rookies and permanently promoted rookies.
The List Lodgement No 1 will show the permanently promoted rookies as senior players and contain no temporarily promoted rookies.
The last list lodgements can be found at http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/ ... fault.aspx
These remain valid until List Lodgement No 1 on 30 October when the effects of the trade period, rookie promotions & delistings and the first round of senior delistings & retirements take place.
