Official Date of release of the 2010 FIXture is 30 October. Once the clubs & the TV networks have it the leaks will quickly become a torrent.
The April Fools (Fev) blockbuster at the Gaba is interesting. The AFL condems Fevola's behaviour at the Brownlow, then almost immediately cashes in on it. Am I going over the top in thinking that this is Gross Hypocracy of the highest order?
Expect at least 1 leak per day from now on !!

Been a bit quiet. The AFL must have fixed where the leaks were coming from at their end. Plenty will come out next week, after clubs & networks comment on the 2010 FIXture they received last Friday or earlier this week !!

You would think that we would be one of the lucky teams to get one of those games
[qute]the League will also ensure Collingwood and Essendon’s Anzac Day blockbuster – which next season falls on a Sunday – will be given a standalone slot.
Hawthorn and Fremantle are also likely to host matches on Anzac Day.
“With it being a Sunday we’ve been able to accommodate cleaning out that whole day by just having the Essendon-Collingwood game one-out in the 2.30pm slot, and then having a twilight fixture down in Tasmania when that game finishes,â€

So...................
The AFL is opposed to VIOLENCE on the field, yet is willing to CASH IN using the most VIOLENT person in the game (return games between Syd & WB involving B. Hall).
The AFL has a respect & responsibility policy, yet it organises a BLOCKBUSTER involving a person who is under a cloud over a sexual assault claim (Fevola v Carl, Thu before Easter. April Fools Day)
This would mean that the AFL has morals, but only until they are overtaken by the almighty dollar !!

Do you honestly believe what you have written. The draw was done weeks ago before the Hall deal was even done. Maybe we should dispand the AFL management and let it be run by the NRL as they seem to be going so well.Eastern wrote:So...................

what the article states is: they will /did adjust and promote games as " big drawing" if they involve perceived rivalries- or involve players from either side which have swapped- ie Hall and Fevola-
Hall( Dogs) will met Swans twice
He said while meeting stakeholders’ requests was the League’s main aim, it also had the flexibility to gain maximum exposure for expected large-drawing games.
Recent trade week activity will result in several players facing their former clubs, but Fevola and Hall were clearly the highest-profile pair.
“If trades are big enough that they create a need or interest for a certain match-up to occur, we certainly accommodate that after it’s happened,â€

hmm...
Next year, correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe there WILL be a public holiday in Victoria, and possibly the whole country, on Monday 26 April.
There is a clause for a Monday public holiday if Anzac Day/Australia Day fall on a Sunday.
IF I am correct, then the a Sunday night slot on Anzac Day would be the equivalent to a normal Saturday night slot, and hence be a good one to get!

they the AFL obviously feel they can combat the "Magpie factor" with this statementBernard Shakey wrote:3 games on Anzac Day, which is a Sunday next year.
Any on the Monday which is a holiday, at least in Victoria?
We always have 3 games on a Sunday.
Eddie can't be happy with sharing Anzac Day.
so not promising a Standalone 'DAY' but rather a standalone slotthe League will also ensure Collingwood and Essendon’s Anzac Day blockbuster – which next season falls on a Sunday – will be given a standalone slot.
working on getting the football community to not think of football being related to days but all in 'Time Slots"

Brisbane V. West Coast on the Saturday night at the Gabba has been locked in for weeks. In addition, the Lions play on the Thursday night after (Easter Thursday V. Carlton- round 2) - so we can't travel round one.
