To nominate for PSD maybe? What a saga.

Won't happen. There would need to be 10 or so other clubs that don't want to meet Luke's demands.

I doubt that Collingwood have more space in there cap than any other club ahead of them in the pecking order.

It's likely he'll resign or get snapped up by Melbourne or Richmond.

I can imagine 10 clubs overlooking him - they have just done so this week.

Melbourne might not be willing to part with a first round pick for him, but do you think they'd be willing to pass up on him for virtually nothing...

It would be a pre-season draft pick only...

Walshe from the filth not to enthusiastic about trying to get Ball now.

No doubt, they told Luke to stand his ground and not accept being traded anywhere else. They thought that by hanging out to the 11th hour, that the Saints would lose their nerve and accept some spud or a lowly third round pick.

Unfortunately for the Pies, they were dealing with the Saints circa 2009, not the basketcase of the '80s.

Today our club can hold its head up high. Yes, we may lose Luke Ball for nothing, but I can guarantee you that next year no one will want to roll the dice with the Saints.

Melbourne wants him and has cap room

Freo has cap room

Richmond has Cap room

Carlton has Cap room

Port has Cap room

North has Cap room

Do you think all of these team would pass on Ball?

And has first pick in the PSD (but I hope we keep him and he's happy).

Either that or Luke wants to have a chance to play premiership football.
He could have recognised that there are very few teams that are genuine contenders.
He could then have identified that Collingwood was the only contender that desperately needed a stoppage specialist who can't run or kick.
He could have identified that only Collingwood had the space in their salary cap to absorb him.
Geelong and the Doggies have made their cap problems public during trade week.

Luke failed to identify that Collingwood had a greater priority than a stoppage specialist - they needed a ruckman who would use up Collingwood's draft picks.
Luke also failed to identify that Collingwood is a club that will not engage in genuine trade of players after they have used up their best draft pick.
He should have been advised of both of these by Paul Connors but I suspect Connors was more interested in his own income.

Now I hope Luke will realise that only by staying at St Kilda can he hope to play premiership football rather tha tanking for wooden spoons.

too risky IMO (for Luke)

players that end up in the ND are ones so desperate for a second chance that they'll play anywhere

+ obvious the clubs with draft pick 26-29 would know Collingwood's intent

IMO if he goes anywhere, it'll be Melb
