I think Lovett needs to be played as a forward to get us some crumbing/running goals, can rotate to wing with Goddard pushing forward occasionally. M Maguire an option as a third tall forward. Armo needs to get some game time and has proven he can kick goals. Need to look to a forward line that doesn't need Milne in it.

post trade week 2010
based on 2009 form or improvement over pre season Next year Steven,
Armitage and McEvoy will be very close to our 22 Lovett should be in but I think Peake might be around the 26-30 mark

You can have maguire on the bench there needs to be 3 players capable of playing midfield.

Re Milne, I've got him pretty close to 22 as well - at 23. Think if we play Lovett forward, one of Lovett, Schneider or Milne maybe has to miss out.
I agree need a lot of midfield options - even though I've only got two on the bench, on the ground you have guys like Armo, Gram, Lovett, McQualter, Schneider, Fisher and maybe even Gilbert who can work through the middle as well. I think we need to consider a third medium-tall to assist Kosi and Roo, and Maguire might be able to play that role.
Peake is an interesting one - haven't seen enough of him to be 100% sure on him, but am hoping we traded for him expecting him to play.

I have Lovett in the backline but it doesn't necessarily mean he has to play there. Plus he can push forward anyway.
I think this is a very strong side with plenty of avenues to goal. It's a very dangerous forward line then you have the likes of Lovett and Gram who can kick a couple.
Peake might not make the cut but i'm prepared to suss him out.
Steven might also be emergency along with McEvoy. It's great that we've got depth.

And Peake was playing with Freo so dont expect to much from him and we have some good kids ready to blossom...Tom Lynch is more of a player than Goose will be to us and Jack Steven & Armo are ready to go .
Jack Newnes happy to be a Saint !!!! PS and to hit a target !!!

McEvoy I think needs to be in for King, he looks a likely type and is the next generation.

might start fighting for the same spot . And although different body
types I think Raph and Geary might do the same. (only on a horses for
courses type basis) And no this isn't a I Hate Raph statement This is

agree with that and no thats not a raph bash, if there is a player who gives us the ability to cover taller players, read the play and also generate play then he takes raphs sport if raph is not playing as well. Geary has shown in small pieces that he could have this ability and a small quick back is needed depending on match upsstkfc1 wrote:Concur. *Didn't consider Ball because i'm not sure he'll be there.
Observations:
- Milney/Schneider/Mini need some goals in big games to shore up their spots. Pressure will come from guys such as Steven and Peake and Lovett if he plays forward.
- Make or break for Raph Clarke and he needs to be told so. I'd see if he can go through the midfield and perhaps alternate with BJ at half forward. Don't want to see him in the backline. Has ability, but he must make major strides this season if it is all to come together.
- Kosi needs to find some more consistency. Rotate he, Riewoldt and BJ through FF during the match to mix it up a bit.
- McEvoy over King to offer a bit more around the ground.
- Mini/Armitage interchangeable through midfield/forward line.
- Ray didn't have a great finals series, but i consider him a very good player who still has much improvement in him.
- Would love to see a wildcard such as Stanley pushing for selection this season (not necessarily as a ruckman). has the pace to perhaps be considered as a winger or a forward.
- Pressure must come on all spots.
- Others well in the mix: Stanley. King, Maguire. Geary, Gwilt, Dempster, Peake, Steven, Lynch. Eddy.
- We need to do build on our defensive excellence of 2009 and become the best attacking/goal-kicking team as well.
