The more you know, the more you know you don't know.
When I was a young child, I knew that I knew so much about so much.
Now that I am old and know so much more, I know that I know so much about so little, and so little about so much.
If you are not engaging AI actively and aggressively, you are doing it wrong.
You are not going to lose your job to AI.
You are going lose your job to somebody who uses AI.
Your company is not going to go out of business because of AI.

Picks 60 and 64 are equivalent to 90 and 96 in an uncompromised draft.
Clubs normally leave players of that quality to the rookie draft.
St Kilda may only use their No 32 and No 60 picks in the national draft.
The promotion of Dawson or Miles will satisfy 1 of these 3 changes but not both.
However if clubs have decided that certain players are not going to make it they can clear space on their senior lists and pay rookie quality players a little extra and include them in the salary cap.
That way they don't have to wait so deep into the rookie draft.

If Ball turns down St Kilda's new offer an goes to the pre-season draft,
AND
St Kilda only uses picks 32 & 60
1 senior delisting is required.
If Ball accepts St Kilda's new offer.
AND
St Kilda only uses pick 32 & 60
2 senior delisting required.
Leigh Fisher and Eljay Connors would be candidates
(Although I would much prefer to see someone fire Paul Connors as well)
Any other delisting than this one would be because the club has chosen to give some rookie quality kid a chance in place of someone who is no longer required.

If St Kilda is to participate in the rookie draft other than to formalise the promotion of NSW scholarship players to rookies then space must be made.
This is especially necessary if Tommy Walsh, David Moran or any other Irish is to be preselected as a rookie.
Brad Howard and Khan Haretuku would seem to be under threat.

There is nothing preventing them nominating for the national draft but they need a little more help than the average aussie kid - airfares etc so they normally either deal with a club or an agent.Gurgman wrote:Good question , whats the go with the irish guys , do we have first crack at them or is it open slather ?
ps , i only want one of them , i havnt seen the other but Tommy will do me
They have a lot more difficulty displaying their talent and they are more risky to clubs.
For the rookie draft it is open slather to get ther signature, but if you get their signature you can pre-select them before the rookie draft which means only you can rookie them.
If you want you can leave a space free on the senior list and then play them in the senior team as a nominated rookie or promote them to a senior player.
No irish has been picked in the national draft since the inception of the rookie draft at the ed of 1996 (1997 rookie draft ).
16 have been taken as rookies.
The first rookied has been the most successful - Tadgh Kennelly formerly of Sydney.
He was rookied at the end of 1999 (in the 2000 rookie draft )
The more you know, the more you know you don't know.

Permanent promotion of rookies, retention of rookies and hence delisting of rookies - 30 Oct = List Lodgement 1.
Out of contract senior players nomination for National Draft closes 10 November.
(If Ball remains without contract and wants to go into National Draft he must nominate before this).
Delisting of senior players to clear space for National Draft - 13 November = List Lodgement 2.
(Assuming at least one rookie promotion e.g. Dawson, Miles, Simpkin, St Kilda needs to have a minimum of 2 spaces meaning a maximum of 38 senior and veteran players).
Delisted senior players nomination for National Draft closes 18 November
(If St Kilda delists Ball and he wants to go into the National Draft he must nominate before this)
Out of contract senior list players nomination for the pre-season draft - 1 December
(If Ball remains without contract and he wants to go into the Pre- Season Draft he must nominate before this)
Delisting of senior players to clear space for Pre Season Draft picks - 2 December = List Lodgement 3.
Delisted senior players nomination for Pre Season Draft closes 8 December
(If St Kilda delists Ball and he wants to go into the Pre Seasonl Draft he must nominate before this)
Pre selection of former NSW scholarship rookies, preselection international rookies, preselection of 3rd year rookies) - 1 December
(If St Kilda wants make rookies of Josh Duncan, Ted Widner, Tommy Walsh etc they must pre-select them before this for the rookie draft).

My prediction:
OUT:
Allen - retired
Baker - veteran o/s list
Ball - delisted
Begley - retired
X. Clarke - to Brisbane
Connors - delisted
L. Fisher - delisted
Hayes - veteran o/s list
Hudghton (veteran) - retired
IN:
Pick 32
Pick 60
Pick 64
Dawson
Lovett
Miles
Peake
Simpkin
Obviously, there's a lot of water to go under the bridge yet. Ball needs to make his decision. As far as I know, Begley hasn't committed to going home yet. I don't think Maguire has re-signed either, so that's another question. There's no guarantee we won't keep Connors or upgrade either Miles or Simpkin. It's hard to tell how many picks we're planning on using, but I'm standing by my prediction, despite RL's comments post-trade week.
The other thing is the NSW scholarship kids (Duncan and Widner). If we try and rookie them, they have the option of going into the ND. I'm not sure whether they'd have reasonable prospects of getting drafted or not. One other possibility I considered from RLs comments is that we may use our last pick on one of them, thus rendering our last draft spot irrelevant.
One final prediction - I bet if you bookmark this thread and take a look after final list lodgement, none of us will have got it right.
