2010 - Goose will have a chance to shine!

Post: # 846490Post SainterK »

Nice to see that we held on to him, I don't actually think I heard anything of him even being on the table.

With a solid preseason, he will come into the mix for sure...he was after all, very close towards the end of the year by all accounts?

Glad we held onto Goose. Hope he plays so well he forces his way in our permanent 22.

Considering what X went for we probably would have got s*** all for him, so I'm definitely glad we held on.

I could see him working his way into the 22 over the course of the year definitely

Yeh we need pace...we also need key back talls...and a fully fit Goose isn't slow...he is young enough and another year past the horrific leg break to really surprise a few.Still only 24 :?

Time to shine Goose

We couldnt fit all our talls in the side last year , whats going to be different next year ?
We have two big Rookies who have potential as backmen , what we need are a small to take bakers spot in a year or so

It's all part of a successful club, heaps of players in the mix, pushing for selection...

I personally would like to see Goose as one of them 8-)

I would like to see him swung up forward. He's tough & a proven goal kicker.

Question to anyone who knows... can he trim down weight wise to help his agility?

I remember a few years back he was bulked up, but that slowed him down.

The need for Monster players is almost a thing of the past, so maybe a lughter Goose might be a 3rd fwd?

Just a thought.

caution for us ( me ) nervous nellies

we still have Delisting to complete :?

so far we have 2 retirements and 1 trade
but 2 in

so still need to make room for 3 draft picks- even if one is a rookie or re rookie situation

Sandy will be happy we kept Goose.

Watching him this year, I think the pace of AFL has passed him by.
I would love to see him play his 100th, but can't see much more.

Hmm I hope not. But I fear you may be right.

Don't discount the severity of the injury, plus the recovery setbacks he had.

Massive......Massive hurdle for him

I hope he stays on the list and gets a chance though.

If I could post photos, I would show you one of Goose in just his shorts. He is actually quite trim.

To get the delisting numbers we will most likely retire one or two.
Leigh Fisher ?

Could also do a Stephen Newport and delist and then redraft a player.
eg Milne.
No other club would bother picking him up.

Good trade period cept for luke ball obviously.

Lovett is a GREAT pickup SOOO good.

Clarke I love him but no postion for him in this team we need harder bigger stronger bodies.

Needed Maguire he is the back up backman. If blake or Dawson go down he is in.

Will be interesting to monitor his pre-season... possibly they will, as someone suggested, trim him down, make him more athletic and throw him in the forward line...

Expect both Clarke and Gwilt to get bigger over summer. Raph has the goods, he just needs the body strength to match it.
