OFFICIAL: Xavier Clarke - Traded for 4th rounder (Pick 60)

Post: # 844984Post 4ever_saint »

As reported on SEN Twitter.

Don't really understand why that was worth a trade, surely its more valuable to keep X than have Pick 60!? The later picks barely ever get used after all.

Maybe they want the pick as part of another trade?

The Saints seem to be repeatedly saying they want players, not picks.

I would imagine we will use a few in PSD this year

There will be a few there

If Tuck doesnt get a home i can see us using pick 60 in the draft for him

Xavier Clarke said “I’ve been offered a terrific opportunity at Brisbane and I’m really looking forward to further developing my career with the Lions. I’d also like to thank all those involved at St Kilda Football Club for their support over the years and for providing me with the opportunity to play AFL football.â€

Sad. Good luck X. Too bad you didn't get to fulfill that talent with us.

Disappointing... Better than Brett Peake (his more expensive replacement...)

Shame we will never truly know what he was capable of...

Will be interesting to see what happens with Raph now... Hope he stays. I would say there'd be no chance he would be delisted tho...

Frankly, we only ever saw glimpses of X's best, as he was injury prone.

You can compare him with Peake etc, but the cold hard facts are that our latest recruits have AFL bodies.

Very diappointed, there goes 2 Top 5 picks from the 2001 "super draft". A real shame, I had a lot of time for X.

Gee, we have been active, wonder why they signed him on a 1 year contract coming off the knee injury.

I think we are really going to need to settle down over the off season now...some of that core we thought would take us a long way is now gone.

I guess in Ross we trust.

Best of luck X, hope your body can hold up, no hard feelings.

Bit of extra room in the cap now too...

I wonder if Matty is feeling a little nervous at the moment - it seems like the broom is coming.

I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.

Why? Talented yes, injury prone though. Couldn't break into the side this year, plus we get some more salary cap money free'd up possibly.

Just got Lovett/Peake who are quick and can actaully string a few games together.

Xavier can be a good AFL player, but just can't get out there.

Quite saddened by this one.

Met X quite a few times, especially over the past couple of years and he is a really decent guy.

But hey, all the best kid. Hope you make it back on the park.

Surprised by the response

This trade and rough pick number has been discussed in a number of threads for a couple of days........

What did we give for peake again? wtf?

And why would x want to be traded? it's not like he was denied oppurtunity, was just injured, plus his brother plays here and he went for the saints his whole life???

where players are drafted is irrelevant, as many top 5 picks don't always make it.

X's body has been the big issue here. Nothing more.. nothing less.

The only big negative to our "core" would have to be Ball, and even he hasn't exactly turned out to be what we expected.
