OFFICIAL: Xavier Clarke - Traded for 4th rounder (Pick 60)
As reported on SEN Twitter.
Don't really understand why that was worth a trade, surely its more valuable to keep X than have Pick 60!? The later picks barely ever get used after all.

Xavier Clarke said “I’ve been offered a terrific opportunity at Brisbane and I’m really looking forward to further developing my career with the Lions. I’d also like to thank all those involved at St Kilda Football Club for their support over the years and for providing me with the opportunity to play AFL football.â€

Very diappointed, there goes 2 Top 5 picks from the 2001 "super draft". A real shame, I had a lot of time for X.
Gee, we have been active, wonder why they signed him on a 1 year contract coming off the knee injury.
I think we are really going to need to settle down over the off season now...some of that core we thought would take us a long way is now gone.
I guess in Ross we trust.

Why? Talented yes, injury prone though. Couldn't break into the side this year, plus we get some more salary cap money free'd up possibly.Junior wrote:Bloody joke, totally unacceptable.
Just got Lovett/Peake who are quick and can actaully string a few games together.
Xavier can be a good AFL player, but just can't get out there.

Quite saddened by this one.
Met X quite a few times, especially over the past couple of years and he is a really decent guy.
But hey, all the best kid. Hope you make it back on the park.

What did we give for peake again? wtf?
And why would x want to be traded? it's not like he was denied oppurtunity, was just injured, plus his brother plays here and he went for the saints his whole life???

where players are drafted is irrelevant, as many top 5 picks don't always make it.Sainterman wrote:Very diappointed, there goes 2 Top 5 picks from the 2001 "super draft". A real shame, I had a lot of time for X.

X's body has been the big issue here. Nothing more.. nothing less.
The only big negative to our "core" would have to be Ball, and even he hasn't exactly turned out to be what we expected.
