Wow, also from this article...

http://www.news.com.au/couriermail/spor ... 69,00.html

Teammate Xavier Clarke has been linked to Brisbane, possibly for a fourth-round selection.

Wats the point of trading him!? Especially for that!

All just innuendo i guess, but Brisbane would be the clear winner there!!

If we were to believe the rumors, the question would be, does he want out, or are we seeking a trade??

Considering we really only have room for two selections what's the point?

Might as well see if the year off has done wonders for him.

I googled to see if the trade rumour was anywhere else, and this came up....

http://www.ntnews.com.au/article/2009/0 ... sport.html

TERRITORIAN Xavier Clarke went through a wave of different emotions watching his St Kilda teammates lose a thrilling AFL Grand Final on Saturday.

Clarke, who turns 26 today, missed the entire 2009 season after knee surgery in May to repair a torn cruciate ligament in his right knee.

But that pain was minor compared to the heartbreak he saw his brother Raphael and his teammates go through on grand final day.

"I guess I knew pretty early I was going to miss a full season, but it's always hard to watch your club play a game of footy, especially a grand final," Xavier said.

"When you come in after a game and see how disappointed they are, it's pretty tough. And the grand final was a fantastic game of footy where anyone could have won in the last 10 minutes.

"Unfortunately for the players and everyone else associated with St Kilda it wasn't us, which is really disappointing."

Clarke re-signed with St Kilda this month, locking himself into another 12 months and the chance to add to his 105 games.

"The club has shown great faith in me and I want to repay them for that," he said.

He signed a contract with the Saints -- obviously still means he can be traded, but I highly doubt it. He's worth a lot more to us (if he comes back strongly) than he would be to any other club.

It is an interesting one, given his horrendous injury record there can be no expectation that he will ever be a contributor for us again. However, the player you get with a 4th round pick is equally as hit and miss. I guess it is a question of risk and cost versus potential upside.

Glad he's resigned! Now we can have x clarke and Lovett on the Wings, with Ray and Peake (hope not tho) dashing off the half back line! Fastest team in the comp! 8-)

Theres no way Id trade Xavier Clarke -IMHO we have seen nowhere near the best of this bloke and the times his body has meant he could string games together hes looked better as hes gone on.

He can play - he is tough and willput the body and CAN run and carry - hes not just a pure outside mid.

Hope this is poor jorunalism.......and for a 4th rdr for a top 5 draft pick WTF.

Cant see this happening.

Media is a bit frenzied with this trade period since there is so much going on.

Trade Wont happen x is a required player adds alot of pace, besides the fact that isn't the biggest kick in the team he adds alot to our side as a burst midfielder/rotation player. David Mission has done very well keeping our list fit and healthy lets hope he can xavier back at his best. Fourth Round Draft pick is not good enough as he was drafted in the top 10 a few years ago. Remember Xavier is 26 years old now in the peak of his playing career. HE'S A KEEPER!!

Don't think you can trade recently signed players. Wasn't there some rule about this after an Essendon player signed a contract and was then traded to Brisbane? Can't remember his name?

Won't happen there's no currency in it for St.Kilda.

I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.

Is in Brisbane at the moment:
Smith was in Brisbane earlier in the week for medical tests while Clarke arrived last night for meetings with coach Michael Voss.

I'm a Lions supporter, what would X Clarke add to our side?
